Purpose of the RoleAt Lakeside we aim to create a compelling, joyful experience for our customers, which in turn means that they stay longer and return more often to our centres. This helps our retailers flourish by increasing footfall and spend. The purpose of the environmental services assistant - external role is to work with other team members to clean and maintain the external areas safely and efficiently. You are responsible for the cleanliness and safety of all external areas within the centre's perimeter to the required standards. You will be expected to operate equipment and machines. You will have the ability to work both individually and within a team. You will be capable of carrying out your duties without constant supervision and be proactive in ensuring your area of responsibility meets the highest possible standards of cleanliness and safety.Key Responsibilities To ensure that all areas of responsibility are cleaned to the required standards and that all machinery is well maintained. To follow all of the departmental procedures and schedules correctly at all times. To ensure that all waste is dealt with appropriately. To comply with all health and safety procedures for the department including, COSHH, PPE, clinical waste and sharps policy. To liaise with team leaders and colleagues to ensure a smooth running of the department. To ensure that all graffiti is removed immediately. To transport waste from collection points, separate and compact appropriately whilst adhering to the centres recycling policy. To sweep the car parks, paths, main entrances and all of the external walkways. To litter pick all the landscaped and surrounding areas. To move any furniture/equipment and displays for events functions and meetings. To clear snow/ice to allow for access to all areas gritting as necessary. To ensure that all check sheets for machinery are used correctly. To ensure the safe operation of machinery using the operators guide and wear protective clothing/footwear at all times. To actively promote the centre's recycling policy with our retailers Taking the initiative in assisting customers. Ensuring a good knowledge of all facilities and processes in order to deal with customer's queries, complaints and compliments in line with company procedure. Communicating well with colleagues, other teams and team leaders. Contributing to team effort and success. Attending regular team briefings and meetings. Taking care of own and others health and safety. Maintaining safe working practices in line with HASAWA. Being aware of your health and safety responsibilities. Identifying hazards and take steps to correct them. Maintaining a smart and well groomed appearance meeting our uniform standards. Undertaking any further duties as requested by the supervisory or management team. Increasing your knowledge and skills through education and training. Attending in-house and external training relevant to your role. Skills, Knowledge and Experience Confident/friendly disposition. Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery used in cleaning and maintaining external areas. Ability to walk, bend, push, pull and lift repetitively during working hours. Self-motivated with ability to identify and complete needed tasks without direct supervision. Good communication skills both verbal and written. Flexible/supportive team player.
