Our client working exclusively with Berry Recruitment is family-owned Nursery based in Oxford and are seeking an experienced Chef/Cook to take control of the kitchen. Role: Nursery Chef/Cook Salary: £26,000 per annum Location: Oxford - Parking available Hours: 45 hours per week (Monday - Friday 9am - 6pm) Start date: Immediate Start About the role of Chef/Cook: Creating a weekly vegetarian/ vegan menu Preparing and cooking lunch and tea for up to 100 children and 20 staff (approx.) Serving lunch and tea (staff only have Lunch) Keep leftovers to a minimum, being able to incorporate them into the menu. Washing and tidying all dishes, utensils etc Clearing and tidying kitchen Wiping down cooker and all surfaces and splashbacks Sweeping and mopping floors Key Tasks: Guiding kitchen assistant pro-actively Planning weekly menus to include food for special needs (religious, medical, and other) Cooking all meals for children and staff and providing catering for special occasions as necessary (children's concerts, open days, away days/ inset days) Organising shopping list Receiving shopping and putting away Organising and rotating stock Being responsible for paperwork requirements to meet Food and Hygiene Standards Providing training for other kitchen staff (Assistant) Any other kitchen duties as required. About you: Have a sound knowledge of vegetarian and vegan cooking. Have a sound judgement of quantities so as to keep leftovers to a minimum. Strong organisational skills Good communication Team player Creative flair Chef Skills and Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 in Catering (minimum) or Chef qualification equivalent Level 2 course in Food Hygiene and Allergens (minimum); ideally Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene Will have to complete an enhanced DBS No candidate will meet every single desired qualification we have listed.
