An opportunity for a Transport Manager to join an established food wholesaler who offer a fantastic range of fresh produce and dry store ingredients. The Role The Transport Manager is responsible for managing a team of 20 - 25 drivers and the associated fleet, delivering to customers 6 days per week across the Northwest. The role involves all aspects of team leadership and development. As a Transport Manager, you will be responsible for monitoring and overseeing the day-to-day operation and compliance of the transport department whilst ensuring employees are motivated, working safely towards a common goal and maximising productivity. Transport Manager responsibilities: Manage and coach individuals to perform to their maximum potential through a balanced approach of recognition and managing performance against agreed KPI's. Manage all resources including commercial vehicles, cages, pallets and sack barrows. Allocate work in a consistent manner in line with individual/team capability and legal driving hours to achieve targets. Manage and deliver briefings to the team to ensure they are aware of, and adhere to all company messages, policies and procedures. Communicate effectively with individuals at all levels including those on different shifts and in different departments Promote and manage all health and safety, fleet and sustainability standards, focussing on team safety and wellbeing in accordance with the relevant policies. This includes PPE, Vehicle checks, CV servicing and MOT's, VOR's, Contractor, hygiene, temperature checks, pest control, accidents and near misses. Ensuring all existing and new employees are trained to company standards with all relevant documents completed and submitted. Full compliance and completion of induction and probationary process for all new recruits. A Transport Manager will demonstrate the following skills and experiences: Experience of a fast-moving transport environment. Full understanding of Transport legislation. Evidence of effective management experience. Effective communication skills. Manage conflicting deadlines and able to prioritise. Evidence of creative and innovative thinking. Solid judgement and influencing skills to provide pace to get things delivered. Package: On offer is a basic salary of £35,000, a van to travel to and from work and a bonus scheme. Hours of Work: 06:00 hrs to 14:00 hrs 5 days Alternate Saturdays 04:00 hrs to 12:00 hrs, with a day off midweek on weeks worked

Ensure that the Company Health & Safety Policy and Company Risk Assessments are effectively implemented at site level Ensure that effective deputising cover for all matters in relation to Health and Safety are in place for periods of absence Provide adequate information, instruction, supervision and training for employees to enable them to do their job safely, including fire and emergency procedures What are we looking for? You need to hold a National Certification of Professional Competence You must be a Site O License holder Proficient in IT including a good knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook Strong Commercial awareness with the ability to fully understand budget and financial targets Evidence of managing and driving change, in situations constantly requiring adaptation. Experience of supporting the supervision / management of a transport department ensuring optimum efficiency and effectiveness Experience of multi-drop, multi-temperature foodservice business preferable.
