CNC Turner / Miller - MC268564 CNC Turner / Miller required for a family-owned valve manufacturer based in Basingstoke. The successful candidate will have previous CNC Turning and milling experience. CNC Turner / Miller Position Overview The CNC Machinist will produce machined parts by programming, setting-up, and operating CNC lathes (Hurco, etc) , CNC vertical milling machines, predominantly turning. Traditional lathes and milling machines in a safe, reliable and effective manner in our bearing repair workshop. Determine the fixtures, attachments and tools necessary to complete jobs according to specifications and mount them safely on the machine prior to beginning cutting metal. Discuss project instruction and specifications with engineers and supervisors to guarantee consistency between plans and products. Collaborate with colleagues to modify designs when existing ones are not feasible. Modify machine speed, tooling and cutting style to ensure precision and accuracy of manufactured parts in a range of different ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Experience of machining Various metals Ability to write Fanuc, Siemens and Hurco programs. Oversee cutting process, make adjustments throughout each job, catch mistakes as they happen and take necessary measures to eliminate errors. Supervise machine operating parameters (e.g. temperature and tool wear). Review and interpret cutting plans, enter them into control outlets before jobs and alter them to correct mistakes when necessary. Inspect all finished products for accuracy and uniformity to ensure product quality and uphold company reputation. Management of consumables such as lubricants, tips and drills. CNC Turner / Miller Position Requirements Higher school diploma or equivalent in mechanical engineering or machining. Not less than 3 years hands-on CNC milling and turning experience in a manufacturing workshop with not less than 1 years' experience in a repair workshop. Experience with 4-Jaw chucks is a definite advantage. A comprehensive understanding materials handling including crane driving and slinging. Technical skills including manual & CNC machining (milling and 4-jaw chuck turning an advantage) A good knowledge of CNC software and hardware programming skills Problem solving skills, particularly concerning the repair of worn parts where there is evidence of distortion, wear, ambiguous instructions, lack of clear information etc. Effective record keeping. Communication skills where the working language will be English. Experience working in a manufacturing or factory setting Basic knowledge and understanding of fabrication, hydraulic press and/or punch operations including basic set up is desired. Competent at basic dimensional measuring and able to quickly learn the use of precision measurement tools. Demonstrated competency in basic shop math. Basic ability to read and understand blueprints and other shop drawing aids. Ability to work with various types of metal forming constraints with guidance. Previous experience with overhead crane use is desired. Ideally have the ability to operate a forklift.
