THE ROLE The Operations teams are currently recruiting a multi-skilled Production Operative to join the Fishergate site. This role is to be employed on 37.5 hours' basis to support the business to meet its changing production demands. This role will cover all shifts across the plant on a needs basis to ensure resource cover during periods of training and annual leave. This means that the successful candidate will be advised of their shift for the following week by Thursday of the week before. If holiday or training cover is not needed, then the default position is that this role would work on the night shift. RESPONSIBILITIES Comply with health and safety standards and reporting any near misses or incidents in accordance with Company Policy. Operate in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) to ensure high levels of performance and quality, reporting any issues promptly. Work in line with the site's quality standards, undertaking quality checks as appropriate. Undertake first level maintenance tasks/asset care on designated areas of the Corrugator including involvement in CIL procedures. Undertake competency-based training in all areas within the production area to become multi-skilled (this could include working within the corrugator team and / despatch teams on either of the Norwich Sites). Ensure designated areas of Corrugator always comply with 5s standards. Participate in proactive problem-solving exercises and involvement groups to contribute to addressing any issues affecting operations. Communicate to team members and following shift team members to ensure that a high-quality handover takes place. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Qualifications (essential and desirable) 5 GCSE's (grades A-C) including English and Mathematics or equivalent experience (essential). NVQ 3 in a maintenance discipline (desirable). Experience of working within a semi-skilled role and / a good level of technical understanding with a mechanical aptitude (desirable). Experience of using a process control system (desirable). Skills, Knowledge, and Experience (essential and desirable) An ability to follow health and safety policies and procedures and be proactive in supporting a positive health and safety culture. An ability to adhere to defined procedures and performance standards to ensure operations are compliant with the required quality standards to meet customer requirements. ICT skills. An ability to participate in proactive problem-solving exercises. Verbal and written communication skills to ensure high quality handovers. Numerical skills to understand data required to operate to the required production standards. Ability to work on own initiative and as a member of various teams within the Operations function. Full flexibility in terms of both shift patterns and work areas within the operations function and / across sites in Norwich. A willingness and ability to train to become multiskilled to work in a variety of job roles within the operations function. An ability to act in line with the Company's values and ways of working. Knowledge of how the business operates from sales through to production. Good organisational skills with an ability to manage own workload and priorities. Ability to work a variety of shifts at short notice.
