I am working with a digital function of a largescale company in Glasgow who are looking to recruit two experienced Software Engineering Manager's to the team. The company: The business is a national renewables organisation and they are growing their digital capabilities greatly. This is a brand new position, created in order to help to develop internal software and to continue to modernise their cloud and data services. Sitting within a team of roughly 50 Software Developers, you will report into the Head of Digital and will be involved in making a number of "nitty gritty" decisions. You will be working across a widespread number of projects and these will all involve modernising the software environment (Web and Apps). The company look for some presence in office (1 or 2 days a week), but there is flex on the days. They offer strong benefits on top of the salary including a 20% bonus, car allowance, strong pension and other additional perks including family healthcare. The role: There are actually two different Engineering Manager roles available and you will be managing a team of 6/7 Engineers, in a Tribe model. The role is mostly hands-off, with more peer review, some peer programming etc. This role is majorly people management focused with minimal time to code. The teams typically work across Agile Scrum and some projects two-weekly release cycles, with some others monthly. The teams work across an abundance of technology, and this role is for someone with general technical appreciation and process and delivery. All of the squads will be across Web and App, with one more on the React and JavaScript side, with the other more Java focused across Data, ETL and APIs. However, as mentioned, there is an abundance of technologies as below: Web across JavaScript and React Mobile iOS Mobile Android (Kotlin or Java) Services (Java, Spring Boot) APIs etc Key Skills and Responsibilities: A few years managing a team of Software Engineers (ideally 5-10 Engineers) - could be a current Manager or Team Lead Proficient in CI/CD pipelines Knowledge of APIs and Microservices Technology skills across the likes of; JavaScript, React, Java, Swift, Kotlin Agile (Scrum/Kanban) background Strong technical delivery and coding background (code reviews, peer programming, Architecture and Design) This is an opportunity to work with a thriving and employee-first organisation. Finance Project Manager One of our Telecommunication clients is hiring a Finance Project Manager to lead on a company consolidation process. The business is going through a restructuring project consolidate around 15 companies into a more manageable number. The ideal candidate would be someone with project management experience and most importantly, experience of company consolidation.
