Key Purpose: The IT Solutions Lead supports the execution of IT Work Packages by working with the (Senior)Technical Delivery Manager to understand the clients' requirements, identifying gaps (if any) between clients' requirements and current IT capabilities, defining solutions to bridge the gap and making sure that the project scope is maintained and solutions implemented in line with design They are expected to work closely with clients and business representatives to understand their business needs and design solutions to tackle the IT need of each business or bid. The Solution Lead must also understand not just the IT needs of the business but also the overall impact of proposed solutions to the profitability of the business or bid. To ensure that IT Solution Leads maximize value and credibility, they will be a specialist in at least one particular IT area whilst maintaining a vast knowledge of current and emerging IT technologies. Structure and Reporting Relationship: The role is positioned within the Solution capability in MyTechnology and reports to a Resource Pool Manager. The expectation is that you will work alongside a (Senior) Technical Delivery Manager to tackle the need of each business, in addition to understanding the overall impact of proposed solutions to the profitability of the business The IT Solutions Lead will have significant interaction with Sector Leads and BU DPs to ensure the solutions are in line with sector roadmaps and are being delivered in line with expectations The individual will be expected to manage their own work (and that of others where appropriate) within agreed frameworks, drawing on support from other members of the Solution Team where appropriate. Key Accountabilities: Working with a (Senior) Technical Delivery Manager to understand the needs of business and produce designs & solutions for each work package Liaising with other IT professionals (e.g. Sector Leads, Standard Service Technical Leads) to architect and design solutions for business operations and bids Ensuring compliance with solution architectural design in the implementation of projects Providing architectural guidance and design leadership to the Technical Delivery team to ensure delivery is in line with the design Providing delivery execution support to the delivery team, supporting the change control process throughout the work package Explaining technical issues and IT solution strategies to non-technical stakeholders and other IT professionals as required in support of solutions Align with (Senior) Technical Delivery Managers and BUDPs to ensure that solution milestones are accomplished in accordance with the work package plan Completion of high (and some low level) designs to ensure timely completion of Technical Delivery work packages Ensuring that solution designs are in sync and aligned with business needs and support Sector Roadmaps Reviewing the proposal of vendors and suppliers to ensure that quality inputs are deliverable, aligned to Sector Roadmaps and compliant with standard services Describing the design of the solution in sufficient detail for work to be planned, discussed and clearly understood by the business users Describing the structure of solution to a business problem, which may include several applications and technologies Essential Technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualifications: The IT Solution Lead will have expertise in specific IT areas, experience covering Government outsourced opportunities and practical experience of their business requirements, whilst maintaining a knowledge of current and emerging IT technologies A degree in IT related discipline is required along with an understanding of modern IT Infrastructure, applications and Cloud based technologies You must be good at offering solutions to problems, along with being an analytical thinker and logical in approaching issues You will have effective communication skills that enables you to convey complex technical details to clients in a straightforward manner You will have up-to-date technologies exposure You will need to identify technical issues and design solutions to fix them, gathering and assimilating information Ability to adapt and prioritise Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Ability to think ahead and anticipate problems, issues and solutions Ability to build from good relationships with clients/operational managers and colleagues Good knowledge of quality standards, legislation and best practice Qualifications in Architectural principles Systems Experience: SCCM Intune Airwatch Auto Pilot Microsoft Defender Microsoft Office and Operating Suite Apple Business Manager Android OS Apple iOS Samsung Knox (preferable) Zebra Products (preferable) Additional / Special features of the role Must be willing to undergo BPSS security clearance. In some cases security clearance may be required. Optionally, TOGAF or Zachman Certification would be beneficial.
