Commercial & Supply Chain Intern - Summer Placement Job ID: Location: Lingley Mere Headquarters, Warrington, UK. Possibility for some hybrid working as well as office-based working, to be agreed with line manager during on boarding process. The candidate will need to ensure that they can travel to Lingley Mere Headquarters in Warrington on a regular basis and when required. Role Overview In the Commercial Indirect and Networks department the successful students will join a large team working and supporting on procurement activities including tendering and sourcing. You will have the opportunity to develop skills in a number of areas including service & construction delivery contracts, IT & OT, Professional Services and chemicals, contract/supply chain management, regulatory procurement and purchase to pay. You will engage with operational and senior stakeholders; support the alignment of business strategy and policy to deliver category plans. You will benefit from the shared knowledge within the Commercial team and expertise of working with colleagues across the wider commercial delivery team including Capital Delivery and Engineering, whilst also developing your own specialist skills and providing a valuable contribution to the team. We will help you gain an understanding of the projects being undertaken at United Utilities and the methods used by delivering them. Specific tasks may be assigned during this time. You will be accountable for delivering these with the support of commercial managers. During your 3-month intern summer placement you may also be given the opportunity to visit some of our sites. You'll see how we carefully produce clean safe drinking water and how we treat wastewater in order to release it safely back into the environment. You will also get the opportunity to mix with our current graduates who can share experiences, tips, and guidance with you for the next steps in your career. What we are looking for United Utilities are looking for undergraduate studying a Commercial or Supply Chain qualification who have completed as a minimum first year of a degree or equivalent. To apply you need to: Have researched and have knowledge of Commercial or Supply Chain activities. Be working towards a Commercial or Supply Chain degree or a related course. Have good computer skills particularly in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel. Be motivated and enthusiastic, and excellent team player, processing ambition and drive. Process good written and interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate and influence across all levels. Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Be able to be comfortable working flexibly across a range of tasks and activities to deadlines as well as being able to prioritise your time. Potentially to work unsupervised from home. Able to get to Lingley Mere in Warrington. A typical day Manage bookings and availability of zones within our Lava Lab, ensuring the Lava Lab is appropriately set up to suit booking requests. Regularly check and maintain digital cameras, VR headsets, and Laser scanners (amongst other devices). Work alongside our IT services and/or technology suppliers to resolve technical issues, including any on-site hardware and software issues. Monitor usage and identify opportunities for additional hardware or emerging technologies to be implemented. Collaborate with our Bristol office staff members; providing guidance to our Lava Lab users and encouraging its utilisation. Collate and deliver information to support our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) content. Support in producing and delivering internal Lava Lab communications including multimedia training experiences, updating in line with feedback, learning from experience and implementation of new technology. Develop databases, if/where necessary to support Lava Lab activities that align with company information standards. Ensure data is accessible and compliant with information assurance and cyber security protocols. You must have GCSE English & Maths 4-9 (C-A) or equivalent Skills Needed Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Good team working skills. Great attention to detail. Good organisational and prioritisational skills. Ability to spot issues and escalate to your manager and other teams to support. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
