Your new role Working on a new dual carriageway highways scheme in the Aylesbury area, they require a Quantity Surveyor to support the Commercial Manager in reporting commercial matters and the Contractor's performance to the Project Manager. You will work with the Contractor in the administration of all financial matters under the Contract. To engage and work with the wider contract administration team to confirm quantities and measures for the assessment of work done by the Contractor. Main Responsibilities and Duties: Support the Commercial Manager for attendance at monthly Commercial Meetings and Risk Reduction Meetings. Pre-Certification Meetings with the Contractor and other directly employed contractors. Attend such meetings where delegated by the Commercial Manager. Support the Commercial Manager in assessing the Contractor's monthly applications and preparation of Payment Notices. Support the Commercial Manager in the assessment of Compensation Events and liaise with the Programme Planner and wider team as necessary. Support the Commercial Manager in the assessment of monthly forecasts and applications. Collate data and agree with the Contractor's representative the monthly performance data for submission. Liaise with the Surveyors, Supervisor & Clerk of Works to confirm all staff, materials, plant and equipment on site agrees with the Contractor's assessment of Defined Costs. Undertake drawing take-offs and or site walkovers to confirm quantities used for the assessment of Defined Cost and keep robust records. What you'll need to succeed BSc/BEng (Hons) or similar in Quantity Surveying Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (or similar). Experienced within the Highways sector. CSCS Cardholder Familiar with the MCHW - Method of Measurement for Highway Works and NEC Option C Contract. To proactively engage with the Contractor and take early corrective intervention (with the support of the Supervisor) to avoid defects. Main Responsibilities and Duties: Ensure the Contractor adheres to the Contract Specification Testing & Certification requirements within it and the Contractor's site quality plan. Promote best practice across the Delivery Team. Observe the Contractor's working operations for compliance with the specification and undertake the recording of daily ongoing works (plant, people, gangs, weather etc) and specific matters as requested by the Supervision or Commercial teams. Inspect works that will be covered up as part of the permanent works and work collaboratively at source with the contractor to correct work that is Defective. Agree defective works with the Contractor and record on the site quality systems. Suggest areas for improvement to the Supervisor. Observe the on-site health and safety aspects of the Contractor's operations and inform the Contractor's Supervision staff and the Supervisor of key H&S risks / and or areas for improvement. Attendance at meetings as requested by the Supervisor. What you'll need to succeed Significant relevant practical work experience within the Highways or Bridge sector. Trade qualification or HNC in Civil or Building related discipline. Familiar with the MCHW - Specification for Highway Works and associated testing and inspection protocols. Ability to read drawings and specifications and understand key testing points.
