The role As the Senior Network & Security Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the networking technology fabric that underpins the company's IT infrastructure (including on-premises, and cloud environments), its unified communications and Cyber Security. You will be expected to work with relevant telecoms providers and other suppliers and service providers, acting as lead on the design, maintenance, security, and proactive monitoring of the organisations' network topology. In addition, you will manage capacity and availability of network services, optimise quality of service, and ensure value for money. You will lead network workstreams on projects and programmes ensuring the network topology complies with the agreed standards and provide sufficient capacity, availability, and quality of service; collaborate with infrastructure engineers to ensure systems are practically designed, while planning, directing and coordinating activities and providing guidance and making recommendations to colleagues, ensuring service design and transition plans can be supported by network topologies and network provisions. Your profile Experience of designing and implementing infrastructure technologies, solutions, and services such as: networking, physical infrastructure, software, COTS and open-source packages and solutions, cloud computing (IaaS, PaaS and SaaS.) Core network skills to include, routing (IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, VRF's etc), switching (VLANS, Stacking, etc.) or comparable experience. Knowledge and experience with Checkpoint, Palo Alto Cisco ISE Network Access Control (NAC, 802.1x, MAB), Cisco DNA Centre Knowledge of service integration, particularly experience of integration with Azure & AWS related networking and typical DMZ architectures and Express Route, with experience of capacity and availability monitoring and analysis using tools such as Solar Winds. Experience and knowledge of the technical concepts required in the role including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, data-centre networks, unified comms, network management solutions, network-specific security, remote access technologies and approaches, SIEM and IPS/IDS technologies, vulnerability scanning (Nessus) understanding of SIP, VoIP, Video Conferencing, managing QOS and good knowledge of Microsoft Visio to create network documentation. Experience identifying and diagnosing root causes and troubleshooting and identifying problems across different technology capabilities: Cisco Catalyst 9500, 9300, 3850 and Nexus 3K switches, Cisco FirePower, Profiling policies, Certificates and Guest Portal, or comparable technologies.
