As one of our Transport Planners you will be playing a central role in creating effective transport plans for our customers within the wider Stobart network, whilst complying with legal responsibilities. What does working as a Transport Planner for Logistics People involve? Main Responsibilities & Objectives: Effective management and planning of drivers, through on-going communication and using our state-of-the-art transport software Controlling and planning an agreed amount of resource (vehicles, drivers, trailers); ensuring all legal requirements are adhered to (Working Time Directive and EU drivers' hours regulations) To ensure the daily plan is completed in real time managing resources effectively; maximising utilisation whilst minimising cost Ensure that our internal tracking systems are kept organised and updated to an exceptional standard Make regular use of in-house planning tools and systems to manage workload and monitor efficiency Understanding and achieving key performance targets relating to the safety and efficiency of our fleet (including utilisation and costing) Constantly communicate with our customer service teams and drivers to ensure customer KPI's and targets are achieved and maintained Qualifications What kind of person are we looking for? As the successful candidate you will be able to work on your own initiative, with the willingness to resolve complex issues. You should be able to comfortably organise your own workload and will be able to work in a pressurised environment to meet key deadlines. You should be PC literate, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word in particular. You must also have at least 2 years' experience in a transport and logistics environment. Our client is a multi-disciplinary main contractor based in the Midlands that excels in the delivery of construction and civil engineering projects on a national scale. Reporting to the Civils & Infrastructure Managing Planner, the successful candidate will be responsible for a varied workload of tender and live projects. Our projects vary in value from £10m to more than £100m and are across a range of disciplines including, Highways, Earthworks, Drainage, Structures, Rail for both Private and Public Clients. EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS: An industry applicable ONC/HNC B Eng, NVQ or equivalent experience. Demonstration of construction knowledge and the planning of construction activities on multiple projects of varying types. Identify and communicate potential specification issues to the build & management team, tracking to resolution. Manage changing information from internal functions and clients, maintaining records and issuing change control logs. Contribute to executing 'special wishes' requests, including supplier liaison and implementation. Provide weekly status reports on BoM and Spec Readiness for build, tracking against the latest build plan and addressing risks. Work closely with manufacturing and supply chain teams to anticipate and resolve build issues. Support operations with relevant spec checks throughout the build process. Coordinate materials requests for client finishes submission. Implement spec-related changes and aftersales requests into the operations environment. Demonstrate strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment. Foster effective communication between operations, technical teams, suppliers, and management to ensure project success. Our Ideal Specifications Coordinator: Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar field (2:1 or above), or equivalent experience. Previous experience building unique vehicles with unique requirements, translating them into buildable designs. Strong planning and coordination skills, proficient in Microsoft toolkit. Preferred experience in creating and managing Bills of Materials (BoMs). Beneficial knowledge of vehicle assembly processes and small volume manufacturing techniques. Familiarity with trim, final processes, and experience in Colour Materials and Finishes advantageous.
