Health & Safety Manager £50,000 pro rata - (£30,000 actual salary), Burgess Hill, 24 Hours a week (flexible), 120 hours annual leave, Medical Insurance, Life Assurance, Pension, Parking The Role Due to growth, our client, a leading aviation training business, is looking to add a Health and Safety Manager to their team. This role will be responsible for the on-site Health and Safety for the business, and after formal CAA training, they will be the Safety Manager as designated by the Aviation regulatory bodies. General H&S Responsibilities Implementing and maintaining Health & Safety policies and procedures, and ensuring the Company, its employees and contractors are compliant with Health and Safety Legislation Ensuring staff have the relevant Health & Safety and Environmental training to enable them to carry out their tasks safely and compliant with Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation Investigating incidents where required and gather all documentation in line with company policies. Reviewing internal Risk Assessments Overseeing contractors Risk Assessments and Method Statements ensuring they are adhered to. Carrying out internal Audits, identifying areas for improvements Carrying out monthly building / safety inspections Carrying out Fire Safety Manager duties Safety Manager Responsibilities Carry out all responsibilities and duties as defined in AMC1 ORA.GEN 200 (EASA) and equivalent UK-CAA regulations. Act as the Focal Point for all Safety Issues for both FSTD and ATO Act as the Focal Point with regards to the development, administration, and maintenance of the organisation's Safety Management System Facilitate hazard identification, risk analysis and management. Monitor the implementation of actions taken to mitigate risks, as listed in the Safety Action Plan Provide periodic reports on safety performance. Ensure maintenance of safety management documentation Ensure that there is safety management training available and that it meets acceptable standards. Provide advice on safety matters; and Ensure initiation and follow-up of internal occurrence / accident investigations. Scope for development There is scope for this role to be developed further and incorporate Compliance Management for the business. Requirements To be successful in the role of Health and Safety Manager, you will have a NEBOSH qualification or equivalent and be experienced in and comfortable working in a Health and Safety role. You will be committed to learning and improving and be willing to undertake formal industry training to enable you to be certified in your role. A background in Aviation or experience managing an SMS for AOC or ATO/FSTD operator would be an advantage but by no means essential. Company Information You will be joining a well-established Aviation Training Provider who have had a fantastic 2023, with no plans to slow down for 2024. They are a small, positive, and focused team and would love someone who reflects this to join them.
