Cover Supervisor Location: Lewes Job Type: Supply basis, starting ASAP We are currently seeking a Cover Supervisor to join one of our secondary schools, on a supply basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing classroom cover in the absence of the class teacher, implementing behaviour management strategies, and supporting the learning of our pupils. This role requires an individual who is adaptable, reliable, and has a strong understanding of classroom management. Day to Day of the Role: Supervise whole classes during the absence of teachers, ensuring that pre-prepared work is completed. Develop an understanding of the curriculum as required by the school. Implement the school's behaviour management policy and report any issues to the class teacher or head teacher. Set and mark homework as prepared by the teacher. Mark class work and homework under the guidance of the class teacher. Conduct pupil observations and contribute to pupil records. Administer and mark class tests. Organise class or department trips, including booking venues and liaising with parents. Attend school or department meetings to discuss individual pupils. Provide consistent support in line with the role's requirements and responsibilities. Engage in professional development and training activities offered by the school. Adhere to all school policies, including Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities. Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience in supervising or teaching groups of children (desirable but not essential). Strong classroom management skills. Ability to understand and implement school policies and procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to professional development and learning.
