Job Title: Structural Engineer Location: Barnsley Salary: £30,000 - 40,000 basic (Depending on experience/qualification) Job Type: Full Time, Permanent. About the role: You will be an Engineer in a small team: With responsibilities across multiple projects and for the management of our ISO 9001 quality management system. Undertake structural analysis (FEM) and produce calculation reports across a wide range of different projects. Liaising with technicians and checking drawings are in line with designs. Working on various projects across major civil engineering sectors including Network rail and the Environment Agency and the Power sector! Client-facing, attending design team meetings and site visits. Structural / Civil Design Engineer Pay Rate: £40 per hour (Umbrella / Inside IR35) Organisation: Kirklees Council Job Type: Temporary Initial 3 months Kirklees Council are currently seeking a Structural and/or Design Engineer with a strong background in structural and civil engineering. The ideal candidate will have a detailed knowledge of structural issues associated with a variety of building types, including new builds, extensions, remodelling, refurbishments, and historic listed buildings. Day to Day of the Role: Conduct structural designs for various materials including reinforced concrete, composite structures, timber, masonry, and structural steel. Perform structural and feasibility assessments. Carry out structural surveys and investigations, including stability and condition assessments. Assess subsidence and ground stability. Provide Party Wall assessments and advice in accordance with the Party Wall Act (desirable but not essential). Monitor the health and safety of council-owned properties. Check compliance with Building Regulations Part A, Structure. Evaluate environmental and contaminated land and property assessments, including desk-based studies and specialist site investigations. Manage demolition contracts and land remediation schemes from feasibility to completion. Prepare briefs for suppliers to complete major capital schemes, appraise outputs, and prepare site remediation strategies as required. Maintain a working knowledge of desk studies, site investigations, flood risk assessments, land profiling, drainage assessments, and structural condition surveys. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience in structural/civil design engineering. Knowledge of traditional and system-built properties, including maintenance and repair. Experience with structural design across various materials. Familiarity with Building Regulations and environmental assessments. Ability to manage projects from feasibility to completion.
