World Class Defence Organisation based in Bolton is currently looking to recruit a Quality Engineer - First Article Inspection Engineer Subcontractor on an initial 12 month contract. This role would suit a candidate with a strong Quality Engineer / Quality Assurance Engineer background from wither the Defence or Aerospace industry. Contract Duration: 12 Months (initially and then ongoing thereafter) Hourly Rate: £35.00ph (Umbrella) First Article Inspection Engineer Job Description: Conduct First Article Inspection (FAI) activities as part of the delivery of the Industrial Validation plans ensuring that Manufacturing and related processes are applied across all projects and to help review supplier FAIs to ensure they meet requirements. This is a challenging 'Subject Matter Expert' role that requires a highly technical mind set and a considerable level of attention to detail. It will offer variety across a number of key topics within the Manufacturing environment and will offer you the chance to make a significant contribution to product safety, continual improvement and our business reputation. Undertake preparation of First Article Inspections activities through the analysis of the manufacturing data-pack and understanding of the associated processes, gathering all the necessary information required. Produce First Article Inspection reports by auditing and analysing the operations and processes being conducted in the relevant manufacturing area. Identify non-conformances and areas for improvement during the FAI process ensuring the relevant IAR (improvement Action Requests) are managed to satisfactory closure. Carry out the compilation of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) detailing findings from FAI conducted. Provide technical and process support to manufacturing to support closure of non-conformances ensuring that the necessary actions have been implemented to prevent recurrence of the issues. Conduct reviews of Supplier FAIRs ensuring they meet the requirements placed on them by the company, liaising with the Industrial manufacturing engineers to help resolve any issues identified in order to release the parts for use in production. Required skills: Qualified to minimum HNC/HND in relevant subject ideally. Quality Audit experience required. Extensive knowledge and experience of EN/AS9100 and EN/AS9102. Experience in the compilation of FAI reports Capability to identify sustainable business improvements & ensure effective implementation. Recognise and understand internal and external customer requirements, and respond to them. Planning and organising skills to ensure multiple tasks are prioritised and monitored to deliver set objectives.
Responsibilities: As a Production Test Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our complex weapons systems at both system and subsystem levels. Your responsibilities will include: Testing intricate electronic and electrical equipment, meticulously diagnosing production test failures down to the component level. Swiftly identifying corrective actions to maintain production continuity in alignment with program schedules. Assessing Test Equipment issues and coordinating support services to swiftly resolve equipment failures. Evaluating technical challenges to propose investigations and implement corrective actions, including process enhancements. Representing Test Engineering at Defect Review Board meetings to expedite equipment progress and quality notifications for corrective measures. Role Requirements: A minimum of HNC/HND (Electronics) Level of Qualifications or equivalent, coupled with substantial experience in digital and analogue electronics manufacturing and test. Proficiency in measurement and test principles, along with familiarity with associated equipment. An advantageous understanding of RF and microwave technology at the subsystem level. Knowledge of Environmental testing, including Environmental Stress Screening (ESS). Strong planning and organisational abilities. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Analytic thinking and problem-solving prowess. Meticulous attention to detail. Training in manual handling and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) precautions.
