IT Engineer needed to cover one of our clients Schools in the Hassocks area. Salary £25,000 benefits. We are a leading managed service provider in the Education Sector and we are looking for an IT Engineer to join our very busy, expanding team supporting IT in the Hassocks Area. This is an exciting opportunity for an IT Engineer to join a highly recognized and always expanding IT solutions and managed service provider, working for a company that puts engineering excellence first. Our requirement is for a IT Engineer with some background in supporting infrastructures and Microsoft technologies, although induction and on-the-job training with our experienced on-site team will be provided. As a IT Engineer, you will be working in an educational environment with a team of dedicated professionals. Our team of experienced seniors will be supporting you either remotely or as a site visit, enabling you to further your career within the sector and provide an outstanding service to our clients. Your responsibilities will include: Under the guidance of the Network Manager: provide specialist ICT support that ensures the school establishes and maintains high quality learning facilities. Connect up and check hardware for normal operation. Set-up a suitable desktop environment for users of a standalone or networked PC. Install simple software applications as required. Perform basic set-up and checking of networked PC's. Perform basic maintenance task for user accounts. Use simple utilities to change information on the intranet. Provide a good level of technical expertise to all assigned customer networks, To use our ticket based system to manage and resolve problems. To identify areas of Growth within the school from a Technical and Engineering front and escalate this to the account manager. Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) technical information to the client and commercial information to the account manager. To do complete our regular checks on our client systems. Requirements Experience in a helpdesk or support environment. You will be willing to work in teams to resolve common problems, and also be part of our rollout project teams. Microsoft Server Skills are desirable. Professional and polished communication skills. Experience in the education sector is desirable but not essential. Must have a clean and valid DBS disclosure. Keen desire to learn and expand on your existing knowledge/ skills. Main Objectives: Managing the electronic components in use and those under consideration for introduction in new designs. Key Responsibilities: Minimising the number of components currently in use. Merging the component part numbering systems and component selection processes on the UK site with those used by the US site. Assisting Purchasing with the sourcing of problem components. Assuring the quality and reliability of electronic components in use particularly when under exceptional circumstances they are sourced from the "grey" market Managing and minimising component obsolescence. Securing sources of alternative components and organise/perform testing and evaluation in new and existing designs. Ensuring all components on the database have datasheets, technical information, and adequate information to allow procurement. Working with the design teams to ensure components selected are cost effective, have minimal lead times, and meet appropriate regulatory standards which are to be maintained on the company database to comply with any customer and internal audits. Working with Quality on understanding component failures and deal with the suppliers/manufacturers of these components to establish the root cause of the failure and corrective/preventive action. Keep informed and support IS09001 Quality and IS014001 Environmental requirements and improvement activities. Commit to achieving the Company business, Quality and Environmental objectives and policies. Responsibility for adhering to the Company's ISO 9001 Quality, ISO14001 Environmental and Health and Safety management systems. Skills, Knowledge, and Experience: Background in electronic design and ideally some experience in purchasing. Professional or academic qualification in the field of electronic engineering. Demonstrable experience within the component engineering field. An understanding of the technical aspects of component engineering. Familiarity with electronic, electro-mechanical and mechanical components. Good interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues and suppliers. Confident, motivated, and well organised. Enjoy handling detail and ensuring information supplied is correct and accurate. Good IT skills particularly with respect to database usage. Familiarity with MS Office.
