We are recruiting on behalf of our client who is a social housing provider based in Northamptonshire and are currently seeking a Principal Building Control Surveyor to join their team. This role is a temporary full-time position (37hours per week) for 3 months with a likeness to extend and are looking for someone to start as soon as possible. The role will require daily travel to Northamptonshire to carry out site inspections and to apply you must be RICS qualified. Please find below a summary of the duties: Manage the day to day control of building work within the district Be the lead contact for major/complex projects as allocated by the Building Control Manager, in respect of plans examination, site inspections and enforcement Check plans and notices for compliance with Building Regulations and ancillary legislation, preparation of amendment schedules Process plans and notices, prepare notices, pass and reject plans and other matters within statutory time limitations Discuss and liaising with all necessary bodies and people regarding plans, notices and other matters like, Fire Service, Water Authorities as appropriate Inspection of work on site in connection with all types of development Ensure that fees and charges are recovered, including supplementary charges, in relation to Building Control applications in accordance with the scheme of charges and the controlling legislation Undertake investigations of alleged breaches of Building Regulations, including the identification of contraventions, gathering of evidence for proceedings and attendance at court hearings, in accordance with the Enforcement Concordat and statutory timescales Maintain concise, organised records of site inspections, telephone conversations, meetings and emails Adopt the 'Development Team Approach' to secure cross Departmental compliance Liaise, advise and communicate with clients and all industry professionals including, architects, surveyors, engineers, agents, contractors etc Undertake routine written work, correspondence and other administrative duties in connection with the Building Control function, within corporate and statutory timescales
