To ensure that customer product quality and service are maximised in a safe environment. Main duties and responsibilities of a Production Manager: Working as part of the Senior Leadership Team. Ensuring site safety procedures are followed and occurrences minimised. Organising and directing day-to-day operations efficiently and effectively to exceed customers' expectations. Continuously improving production, asset capacity, and production flexibility while minimising unnecessary costs. Being responsible for production output, product quality, and on-time delivery. Allocating resources effectively and fully utilising assets to produce optimal results. Liaising with the Head of HR to implement strategic people initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus. Monitoring operations, identifying, and triggering, where necessary, corrective actions. Collecting and analysing data to improve e.g. waste, downtime, and throughput. Developing systems, metrics, and processes that track and optimise productivity and performance against set targets to ensure effective return on assets. Experience/knowledge requirements for a Production Manager: Clarity of strategic thinking, open-minded and an ability to drive performance. Proven working experience as a Production Manager (or similar) delivering strategic objectives, preferably within the Corrugated Packaging industry. Proven managerial experience with evidenced business acumen. However, exceptional less-experienced candidates will also be considered. A working knowledge of business and management principles. Deliver the intended production performance of the company by putting in place suitable highly visible and clearly understood operational and financial metrics aligned to the business plan Establishing, measuring and achieving SLAs and other key operational metrics To solve day to day operational problems Control operational budgets and inventory Review financial statements and data to improve profitability. Continuous Improvement To plan and deliver a continuous stream of productivity improvements using appropriate lean manufacturing techniques, constantly initiating changes across the production team to achieve excellence in all areas. Always seeking the most efficient and effective utilisation of the machines and the factory itself. Achieve year on year cost reductions in both labour and material use per label manufactured. Quality Improvement To plan, lead and implement a continuous stream of quality improvements using appropriate lean manufacturing techniques that result in significantly reduced numbers of jobs that require working at any stage, so that the maximum number of jobs are processed right first time, every time, leading to zero defects at dispatch and no customer complaints.
