Job Title: Metrology Engineer Location: Leicester Salary: £34,000.00-£36,000.00 Job Type: Permanent The Role Our client is currently looking for a Metrology Engineer. The candidate would be responsible for raising and maintaining calibration standards relating to Aerospace manufacturing. This would include routine calibration, CMM programming and component measurement to first principles. Duties and responsibilities: Ensuring Calibration readiness at point of use. Monitoring and resolving calibration error frequency. Helping to developing and supporting implementation of NPI project plans. Undertaking production improvement initiatives. Providing critical manufacturing support across all areas. Producing first article inspection reports in conjunction with the quality department. The Candidate Previous experience in the field of dimensional measurement Have a practical 'hands on' approach. An understanding of CMM operation and programming Solid IT skills with 3D CAD experience. Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, notes and specifications. Excellent 3-Dimensional visualisation.
Senior Engineer - Product Inspection Location - Gillingham, Kent Salary - Highly Competitive DOE Permanent Do you have previous experience in the field of dimensional metrology or precision engineering? Do you have experience of using manual and digital microscopes? We have a fantastic opportunity in Gillingham for a Senior Engineer - Product Inspection to work for one of our clients. In this role you will be working Monday - Thursday 8 am-4.30 pm with a 30-minute lunch break. Fridays 8 am-1 pm with no break. Our client is a leading global manufacturer with an exceptional reputation, specialising in advanced technologies. Responsibilities Carry out dimensional and surface inspection according to design specifications, using microscopes, hand gauges, contact and optical measurement systems. Produce detailed inspection reports and communicate technical information effectively with key stakeholders. Be accountable for inspection method and measurement process development, and work with product engineering and validation team to define detailed requirements. Collaborate with colleagues, customers, and suppliers, and research new technology to improve department capability to meet product development and program needs. Responsible for the development and validation of measurement processes and procedures. Contribute to continuous quality improvement. Conduct measurement trials and capability analysis. Equipment calibration and maintenance. Ensure EH&S and Quality Management System conformance (IATF 16949). Support department targets, budget, performance metrics and quality Standards Skills and Experience Previous experience in the field of dimensional metrology or precision engineering is essential for this role. Must hold a degree in an appropriate engineering discipline or apprenticeship 5 years experience Solid fundamental knowledge of dimensional metrology is a stringent requirement. Must have an understanding of applied knowledge of measurement best practices. Previous experience using manual and digital microscopes is a requirement. Experience using contact and optical 3D metrology equipment (such as Zygo and Taylor Hobson surface measurement instruments). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to contribute in a team environment. Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T specifications. Must have excellent attention to detail. Problem-solving mindset. To be a self-starter, self-motivated, and willing to learn new skills. Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines when required. Good understanding of 5S and workplace organisation. Must have solid IT skills. Ideally, have knowledge of traceability, measurement uncertainty, gauge R&R, and Measurement System Analysis (MSA). Experience in writing measurement programmes (CMMs and Taylor Hobson - Talyrond) would be useful, but not essential. Practical experience in metrology software, preferably Polyworks would be advantageous. Knowledge of dimensional metrology standards and surface finish standards would be very useful. Programming skills using MATLAB and VBA would be useful, but not essential.
