The Planning Officer will be responsible for the processing of Development Management matters within an area based or function based team including responsibility for the handling of pre-application advice, planning applications, conditions, appeals and, when required, enforcement including negotiations with developers and other interested parties, securing financial and other community benefits through legal agreements.
The Planning Officer will ensure, in conjunction with colleagues, that statutory and legal obligations are delivered and communicated in a customer-focussed manner, optimising available resources.
The Planning Officer will be accountable to the Team Leader Development Management & Enforcement or the Major Applications Team Leader for achieving agreed Service outcomes and personal appraisal targets which uphold the Council's Core Values and meet the challenges of best practice.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Planning and Public Protection Officer to work within our enforcement teams in Planning and Public Protection.

Develop and carry out project briefs and feasibility studies in relation to regeneration and/or economic strategy work, and liaise with staff in Development Planning as required.
Contribute to the Councils planning, regeneration and economic development policies and information needs and ensure the implementation of such policies in respect of statutory and non-statutory plans, local plans and schemes, development proposals, detailed plans, environmental and landscaping improvements.
Participate in monitoring arrangements for commissioned work to ensure it is produced to a proper standard and to defined timescales.
You need to have good people skills and the ability to understand the needs of our tenants while at the same time having an appreciation of the demands on our engineers.
