General teacher Covering core subjects SEN/SEMH pupils 2/3 days initial cover, will rise over time The potential work I need covering is 1:1 tuition, majority is in the home - very occasionally we will work in a public library or a pre-booked room in a location such as the 'Orange Box' in Halifax. However, I would stress this is not the norm . All the young people we work with are either permanently excluded or refusing / school avoidant. All will have EHCPs - the EHCPs are for a range of reasons, SEMH, ASD, etc. We do receive copies of the EHCPs and these are made available to the teachers we use. Age range is varied and can be from primary through to 20! However, I would look at the age range the teacher is comfortable with and match appropriately. The majority of work we are asked to do is with core subjects - mainly maths / English. Levels depend on the young person and age range. We do get a lot of requests for support in year 9 - 11. These are functional skills through to foundation GCSE levels. Some of our older pupils will be similar but we can also do work teaching the skills for work and life curriculum. The teachers do not have direct email / telephone contact with the families - any messages / information / are reported via the manager (me) and passed on as needed. Lesson durations tend to be 2 hours, 2.5 hours or 3 hours, it is quite normal for us to have a young person with 2.5 hours am and then work with a different young person for 2 hours pm. We use our own IT systems to record attendance, learning records etc. The teacher has full access to this once they start working with us. It is very straightforward. We do have an induction process, and some online work that has to be completed before starting, I would also want to meet the teacher and do a short interview - this is done via telephone in the first instance and then face to face for the induction.T The locations are in the Calderdale area - illingworth, brighouse, sowerby bridge, Halifax. I do try and look at distances / times teachers are travelling when matching young people for the work we do. I know from experience that Littleborough to Halifax is about 30 minutes.
