A fantastic SEN school in Thatcham are looking to appoint a creative and motivated Learning Support Assistant to help provide support the class teacher and give the students an extra helping hand. The role is Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm. The school caters for students with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Tourette's Syndrome, Visual Impairments, Speech and Language Needs and physical disabilities. As the Learning Support Assistant, you will therefore need to be kind, empathetic, friendly and positive, with an interest in helping young children with SEN! As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support and shadow the class teacher, whilst providing 1:1 and group support to the pupils. You will help ensure all the lessons are engaging and exciting, help improve the pupil's social skills, as well as building and encouraging their communication. The school have a strong focus on building the student's life skills, so expect cooking, arts and crafts, sports, swimming and horse riding! Any experience working with children and/or adults with additional needs would be beneficial, whether professional or personal. Experience with children could include tutoring, mentoring, working in a nursery setting or a sports environment! A degree or Level 3 qualification would also be relevant. In addition to these services there is also a PICU Mental Health Service. The service provides a seamless internal care pathway supporting and empowering people in their recovery and rehabilitation. Working alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will provide personalised assessment and treatment programmes for males with mental illness/complex care needs as well as those with personality disorder, and females and males in a PICU service.
