Purchasing Manager £54,000 - £58,000 plus benefits Trafford Park - Hybrid Working A great opportunity has arisen with our client, a designer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art scientific equipment, to join their team in the role of Purchasing Manager. The Purchasing Manager will provide strategic direction and support for the Purchasing department. Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the procurement process, including sourcing, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships, delivering on cost down initiatives, improvement of business processes and working with the Key Stakeholders to achieve business objectives. Duties include: Represent the Company in negotiating Contracts and formulating policies with suppliers, as agreed with the Senior Manager - Factory, based on forecasts supplied by the Business Managers. Oversee the recommendations on supplier selection for new business. Source, evaluate and negotiate with suppliers to ensure the best terms and conditions. Lead Departmental material cost down requirements. Produce Cost Reduction reports (Variance and Cost Reduction). Implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies and procedures. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their purchasing needs and requirements. Assist with the Purchasing for new projects and managing the delivery within the defined timescales. Cover the Tracking process in the absence of the Technical Buyer. Manage supplier relationships and conduct regular Business Reviews to ensure compliance with contracts, agreements and delivery performance. Focus on Inventory reduction to ensure optimal stock levels. Maintain good communication and working relations with various internal departments to meet company objectives. Travel to suppliers when needed, including overseas. Ensure compliance with all business regulatory requirements, e.g., ISO 13485, ROHS. Management of the Purchasing team, being the point of escalation for both Tactical and Strategic Purchasing staff. Experience Required: C.I.P.S qualification or relevant degree Relevant experience within a manufacturing purchasing environment. Strong demonstrable knowledge of cost down techniques. Understanding of commodity & supply base strategy. Team management experience. Negotiation and commercial experience. Knowledge of Materials Planning Systems. Good computer / IT skills, particularly ERP systems Good leadership skills Strong analytical and organisation skills.
