Grounds Person Salary: £24,050 pro rata Location: Newtownabbey/Jordanstown Job Type: Full-time (6 months) An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Grounds Person to join a leading organisation in Jordanstown. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for horticulture and grounds maintenance, looking to take the next step in their career. Day to Day of the role: General maintenance of gardens, grounds, sports fields, all-weather pitches, and other external areas. Carry out a given programme of works with minimal supervision. Comply with all health and safety regulations. Communicate and liaise with other trades, line management, and department staff. Provide assistance to other trades staff as necessary. Maintain records including timesheets, job records, machinery checks, chemical records, and Permits to Work. Undertake training as necessary and carry out emergency repairs as directed. Operate and maintain a variety of horticultural machinery and equipment with competence. Drive and operate business vehicles as required and utilise computer technology in support of work. Required Skills & Qualifications: Minimum of 1 year's experience in grounds and gardens maintenance, primarily in a non-domestic role. Basic numeracy and literacy skills. Experience with horticultural machinery and identification of trees, shrubs, and bedding plants. Experience in driving and operating a tractor and various implements. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Good understanding of health and safety issues in the horticulture sector. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Full current driving licence and willingness to travel between sites and work out of normal hours. Desirable: Formal horticultural qualifications, Lantra tractor operation certificate, PA1 and PA6a chemical application certificate, NPTC Level 2 in Chainsaw maintenance, and experience in nursery work.
