Location: Smallfield, Caterham and Effingham, Surrey Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £25,604.80 - £28,704 dependent on experience Hours: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday (including 3pm 8pm, additional 3 hours per day at candidate's choice) REED Education are on the hunt for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team across multiple SEN Schools in Surrey! The role involves ensuring continuous operation, maintenance of grounds, and equipment to provide a high-quality site service, contributing to the safeguarding, health, safety, and well-being of all site users. Day to Day of the role: Deliver activities with an energy-efficient approach. Respond to and resolve ad hoc maintenance requests. Organise and carry out the movement of furniture and equipment. Ensure functionality of all fire and safety equipment and promote safety awareness. Complete relevant procedures and checks in line with policy. Support the Annual Fire Risk Assessment process and communicate fire procedures to visitors and contractors. Conduct monthly vehicle check audits. Maintain safe storage of tools, equipment, and materials. Attend work reliably and punctually, maintaining a good corporate image. Build good relationships with staff, students, and stakeholders. Perform regular maintenance inspections and take necessary actions. Maintain school grounds and ensure buildings are fit for educational purposes. Required Skills & Qualifications: Flexibility and sensitivity to the needs of users with complex needs. Understanding of legislation and regulations relating to site management. Competence in basic building repairs, maintenance, and grounds maintenance. Computer literacy skills, especially with internal CAFM systems. Knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations; qualification desirable. Ability to liaise with staff at all levels of technical knowledge. Enthusiasm and a proactive approach, with general maintenance knowledge and qualifications in electrics/plumbing or a construction trade preferred. Customer service and problem-solving skills.
