Company description: Amey Group Information Services Limited Job description: Your New Role We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Highways Technician to join our NMC SW account in Polmadie. This is an onsite role, you must be able to travel to Polmadie, Glasgow. Our NMC SW account is working in partnership with Transport Scotland Southwest since August 2020, we are responsible for inspections, cyclical maintenance, asset management, scheme delivery as well as winter maintenance and incident response. The team are first on the scene to assist road users on the road network, deliver engineering design and operational delivery services for more than 600 kilometres of road and 1,650 structures enabling reliable journey times and a high level of customer care for the people and businesses that use these roads every day. By ensuring our roads and highways are well-maintained through all-weather seasons and traffic incidents, we aim to create well-functioning, safe spaces which minimise disruption, keep people moving and support thriving communities. The Highways Technician plays an important part providing support and assistance to the team in all relevant aspects of investigation for Structural maintenance schemes, including site visual inspections, liaising with coring contractors and assisting with grip testing operations. The standard hours of work are 40 hours per week, Monday Friday. Please note that this role will include working nights or weekends when required. You will be responsible for: Assist in the programming of visual inspections Carrying out site visual inspections Prepare reports from data gathered from site Keep accurate data to support SOI (Statement of Intent) preparation Identification of new schemes Regular Liaison with coring supply chain partners Assist Senior Technician and Project Managers in all aspects of scheme investigation Prepare SOI(I) documents as required Comply with relevant Health & Safety legislation Comply with Amey Integrated Management System We want to hear from you if you are: Full clean UK Driving License Experience of Road surfacing / construction materials Excellent communication skills Demonstrates enthusiasm, flexibility, patience and commitment innovative and a forward thinker Able to prioritise and manage own time to best effect IT literate. Ideally you will hold an HND/HNC or similar degree in civil engineering to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed. The salary is to be discussed in interview, with overtime available. This role is Monday to Friday 08:00am 16:30. There may be a requirement for nightshift where you will be required to work 19:00pm to 06:30am. Highways Maintenance Operatives play an integral part in the installation of temporary traffic management and all aspects of highway maintenance works. You will be responsible for: Undertaking all aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civils' works and litter picking Driving/ operating vehicles/plant ensuring vehicle checks, routing maintenance and cleaning is carried out Winter and Summer standby which will include emergency call out Safety is high on our agenda so ensuring the safety of yourself and the team is paramount Keeping records, including drivers' hours and any paperwork necessary We want to hear from you if you are self-motivated and pro-active in terms of delivering solutions. In addition to this, it is essential you have a class 2 HGV Licence and a CPC card. Ideally you will have civils experience, with involvement in street works or landscaping experience.
