Southern Education Recruitment are currently working alongside a Mental Health Service based in the Braintree, Essex area who are currently seeking a Flexible Support Worker (Waking Nights) to join their team on a permanent contract. Therapeutic optimism is at the heart of all the work carried out by this Mental Health Service, believing all clients with mental health needs can achieve and make positive changes to their lives as they move along their pathway of recovery. Position: Flexible Support Worker (Waking Nights) Location: Braintree Contract: Permanent Contract 40.25hrs per week, on a rota agreed by management Shift Pattern: 3 Nights one week and 4 Nights the next week Salary: £25,183.62 Closing Date: Monday 6th May 2024 Short Listing: On or before Tuesday 7th May 2024 Interview: Face to Face interviews will take place on 15th & 16th May 2024 About the role: The role of a dedicated Night Support Worker is primarily one of providing support and looking after the wellbeing of the clients between the hours of 9pm and 8.30am (to be confirmed), across a 7-day working Rota; to support tenants with enduring mental ill health, to live valued lives within the community. This will include the provision of personal, emotional, and social care. To work closely with tenants and relatives/carers, protecting their dignity, choice, self-esteem, and well-being. To take part in the day-to-day running of the house and the development of the service in such a way that tenants' opportunities for growth and the acquisition of new skills are maximised. To help develop community links, both within the house and in the external community. To liaise regularly with a range of agencies and individuals, such as Health, Social Services, Voluntary Sector Groups, Department of Social Security, GPs, Carers, and other significant people in the lives of the tenants. A recovery hub providing accommodation and support to homeless men with substance dependency needs. Within a Psychologically Informed Environment residents are supported using the Recovery Model to stabilise their substance use, establish networks of support, manage their health and welfare, and move on to either abstinence based service or lower support accommodation Knowledge, empathy, understanding and proven ability to work creatively and engage homeless people whose alcohol/ drug misuse/ complex trauma has had significant effect on their physical and mental health, social and coping skills . Ability to assess needs, risks (within a framework of positive risk taking) and develop user led support plans. Awareness of and ability to identify and address health and care issues with partners, especially substance misuse, mental health, dementia etc. Ability to respond to challenging behaviour in a safe way.
