Social Worker Team Manager Children's Family Help Team Farnborough/Aldershot £47.50 per hour You will manage a team of qualified social workers and support staff in the Family Help Team (Safeguarding) to ensure that children in care and those in need, including those requiring protection, receive high quality services and are enabled and encouraged to shape future services. You will be a confident and experienced manager with sound knowledge of the legislation and practice that underpins child protection work and be committed to delivering services that are of the highest standard. Role Responsibilities: Responsible for keeping own and practitioner's awareness of employment law and HCC's policies and procedures up to date, to ensure management practice is compliant. Attend management training events and local briefings to ensure continued professional development. Identify training & development needs for staff to ensure they are competent for their role. Deal with performance and conduct issues promptly and according to County Council Policies and procedures. Through strong leadership, motivate staff to work in a responsive and effective way that demonstrates the ethos of the department and achieves high scores against performance indicators. Ensure national care standards and initiatives such as person-centred planning and national service frameworks are complied with in practice. Encourage the application of research and experience and learning from good and bad experiences to effect continuous personal and service development/improvement and evidence-based practice. Ensure that all HCC's child protection policies are adhered to and concerns are raised in accordance with these policies. Set standards on Social Work practice and approaches to problems and take decisions to ensure they are complied with. Set standards of work practice within multi-disciplinary teams and taking decisions to ensure they are complied with including application of disciplinary and capability procedures. Decide on action to be taken regarding protection of vulnerable children and adults pending court decisions. Decide on level of intervention/service provision to ensure assessed needs are met in the most cost-effective way. Respond to complaints from service users, their relatives, staff and exercising judgement. Carry out risk assessments and ensure control measures are in place and complied with maintaining equality of opportunity and good management of diversity. Chair various meetings, ensuring progress of cases and regular supervision of staff, as per HCC's policies and procedures. Quality assure work within your team to ensure best practice in a timely manner. Responsible for effective management of delegated budgets to deliver services which comply with recognised best practice, national care standards, represent value for money and remain within allocated cash limits.
