EHS Advisor Pirbright - £45k - £50k You will support and contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), Biosafety and Bio-security strategies, procedures and initiatives across the ROPU to deliver proactive EHS, Biosafety and Bio-security behaviours and enable employees to work in a compliant way, within an environment that demands strict regulatory and corporate requirements and awareness. TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES EHS management Provide advice and recommendations to employees on matters of EHS to ensure compliance with UK EHS legislation and Corporate Requirements. Participate in the the creation, development and maintenance of EHS documentation such as SOPs and Risk assessments. Ensure all incidents, near misses and accidents are recorded, investigated and filed Undertake EHS inspections in agreed locations. Support priority projects as assigned Assists in the development and maintenance of Pirbright site incident response and crisis management processes Conduct periodic validation of fumigation locks at the Pirbright site Participate in Global EHS audits and Regulatory (HSE or Environment Agency) visits Support the follow up and close out of identified actions from investigations, risk assessments, inspections and audits. Waste Management Support the Environment Advisor to ensure all waste is appropriately segregated, sent for disposal and paperwork is maintained in accordance with legislation Provide Information, instruction and training to Pirbright site employees on EHS topics: Assist in development of Site EHS training curricular Develop classroom led training courses to support the Site EHS training curricular Deliver training on EHS topics as required Identify training gaps and or external courses to enhance the EHS training curricular Provide induction training to new employees and where applicable to visitors and contractors at the Pirbright site Keep up-to-date with EHS legislative requirements Promote improvement in the EHS culture across the ROPU: Attend committee meetings and assist manage any resulting actions Communicate and share key learnings from incident investigations Generate EHS events and Poster campaigns to raise awareness of EHS/BSY topics across the ROPU Assist with the generation and promotion of EHS/BSYKPIs Actively participate in Tier 1 meetings, leading the meeting as required Finance Work with suppliers to achieve accurate and cost effective quotes Raise orders on WeBuy system Approve invoices as required on Invoice Track systems REQUIREMENTS National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH) Good spoken and written communication skills Ability to manage time effectively, being able to plan and complete work to schedule Demonstrates a positive 'cando' attitudes Ability to build relationships, uphold process and procedures Ability to work collaboratively across departments Knowledge and experience of EHS/BSY regulations and legal framework Knowledge and experience of risk assessment and root cause analysis methodolgies Logical thinking and problem solving ability Good organisational skills and attention to detail Good hazard observation skills Ability to deliver training on EHS
PMR are seeking a Maintenance Technician to work onsite at our client's Purpose Built Student Accommodation development in Egham. Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week Our client's Maintenance Technicians undertake minor reactive repairs and carry out planned maintenance works including regular painting and decorating, health and safety checks, grounds maintenance, gardening, refuse and recycling management and undertake regular inspections of the gym, ensuring that the equipment is always in good working order. This role will require the job holder to be available out of hours for emergency maintenance cover when required. You will keep a record of all events during the course of your shift and update the General Manager any issues. Critical to the success of this role is a close working relationship with the GM and the residence team to ensure that there is a seamless level of high customer service for our residents. It is essential that you have the ability to work on your own as well as part a team and can communicate effectively at all levels. Core Objectives: Inspect reported repairs and make a record of the issues found and the tools and parts required to complete the works. Major repairs to be escalated to the appropriate approved contractor. Complete minor carpentry and joinery repairs including ease and adjust windows and doors, change locks, fit new doors (internal fire doors, furniture doors and drawers etc.), affix shelving, curtain rails, assembling furniture and making safe broken glazing. Complete minor plumbing repairs including unblocking toilets and sinks, changing sink wastes, identify and isolate/contain leaks, clean showerheads, changing taps and mixers Be competent in and complete minor electrical maintenance including replacement of lamps and ballast replacement, changing plugs and fuses, installation of white goods, carry out visual PAT testing and emergency lighting checks. Supervise external contractors, complete and manage Permits to Work, whilst in the building ensuring that the correct protocols are followed for access to the student accommodation and other restricted areas. Maintain grounds and planting, including weed control to beds and paving, trimming of shrubs and planting, litter picking, and power washing courtyards etc. Undertake regular painting and decorating to all areas and pick up on all minor scuffs and damage to thoroughfare to minimise the appearance of wear and tear to the general building and student accommodation. Undertake regular Health and Safety Checks on the fire protection systems, legionella water testing and ensuring general safe working practices and COSHH management. Monitor plant equipment as directed and keep appropriate records of checks. Where required, know how to turn lifts off in case of emergency. Be aware of locations of dry riser inlets and break glass points and isolation points for power and water. Be able to re-set the fire alarm panel and/or obtain assistance. To be knowledgeable of who to contact for assistance with electrical, plumbing or lift emergencies and contact where appropriate. Role Specific Skills and Abilities: Experience in a trade - experience of general maintenance support in the following areas: painting and decorating, carpentry, joinery, plumbing, mastic of shower cubicles Qualified and competent to carry out minor electrical repairs (18th edition preferred) Ability to work at pace whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Good time management Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation Proactive and strong ability to problem solve, multi-task, plan and organise. Excellent oral and written communication and customer-facing skills and ability to deal with difficult situations. Proven ability to engage with customers, colleagues and third-party suppliers. Ability to manage own time effectively, prioritising tasks when required, multitasking and meeting deadlines. A calm and professional manner, able to work without constant supervision. Ability to undertake repetitive heavy lifting with appropriate equipment if necessary. A good understanding of business coupled with a professional attitude. IT literate, competent user of Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word and FM software)
