Head of Accounting Location: Central London Job Type: Permanent, Full-time Salary: £75,000-£90,000 per annum plus some fantastic benefits & enhanced pension We are seeking a Head of Accounting t to oversee the financial operations and management of service & holding companies on behalf a global energy client of ours. This role is based in the firms London office and requires a candidate with a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment. Day to Day of the role: Oversee month-end closing and review management accounts for reporting. Control cash flow management for treasury and manage group intercompany transactions. Coordinate the annual budgeting process, including the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial models. Prepare statutory accounts for compliance and liaise with external auditors and regulatory authorities during financial audits and inspections. Lead and mentor a finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and effectively delegating tasks. Continuously review and improve financial processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Ensure compliance with VAT reporting, PAYE Settlement process, and all financial regulations and standards. Collaborate with other departments to align financial and organisational goals. Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar position. Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, or CPA) with 2-3 years minimum post qualified experience. Proficiency in MS Office applications and financial management software, with SAP, IBM Cognos, HFM being advantageous. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends. Strong leadership skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Key Activities: 1. Audit and Accounting - Oversee accounting services, encompassing corporate and personal tax returns, providing specialized services for a dedicated client portfolio. - Expertly generate VAT returns and offer comprehensive advisory services to clients. - Advise on P11D and payroll matters, utilizing proficient knowledge. - Harness various paperless software applications for efficient operations. - Assist clients in addressing accounting software inquiries. - Lead in planning, executing, and drafting accounts and tax computations for manager or partner review. - Issue bills promptly. 2. Tax Compliance / VAT - Accurately complete VAT return forms, ensuring thorough checks. - Liaise with clients regarding completed VAT returns, submitting them to HMRC. - Prepare self-assessment tax returns, business and partnership tax returns, incorporating detailed capital gains computations and income schedules from property. - Utilize computerized tax software to process returns and complex calculations. 5. Company Secretarial - Prepare and submit the Confirmation Statement. - Handle various Companies House forms. - Oversee company secretarial tasks and maintain statutory books. 6. Staff - Mentor, supervise, and coach junior staff, contributing to their growth and engaging in non-client work. - Delegate tasks efficiently and review junior staff's work to ensure compliance with professional standards. 7.
