Summary We are looking for a Rural Surveyor to help us manage our diverse let estate portfolio in the Yorkshire Dales. Supporting the Estate Manager, you will mainly be looking after the Malham Tarn and Upper Wharfedale estates. Joining our team, you'll take on interesting rural surveying work that will help us to deliver sustainable land and property management, for everyone, for ever. You'll particularly focus on our Landscape Recovery Scheme bid. The role may be full time or part time (subject to a minimum of 20 hours per week) and we are open to discussing different working patterns for part time work. Your contractual place of work will be either York, Manchester or Grasmere, or at our office at Malham Tarn near Settle. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We'll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 4060% of your working week. Due to the travel required for this role, you must hold a full driving licence with access to your own vehicle (business mileage is claimable through expenses). This is a fixed term contract until the end of June 2026. We are offering a salary circa £40,000 (pro rata if part time) per annum. What it's like to work here Reporting to the Estate Manager, you will be part of a busy and highly professional team consisting of Estate Managers, Rural Surveyors, Building Surveyors and Supervisors, and Lettings and Estate Management Officers. The team work together to support the management of our let estate assets that, together with the relationships we have with our tenants, underpin our £50m national rental income and which is essential to the delivery of our conservation work. The role offers you an interesting variety of work in amazing locations with no two days being the same. In addition to supporting day-to-day operations, you'll have a particular focus on our Landscape Recovery Scheme bid, working with our project and property-based teams. What you'll be doing Building upon the relationships we have with our tenants you will provide insightful advice, considerate relationship management and forward thinking in managing and conserving our land and buildings. You will be involved in delivering a range of work, including residential and commercial lease negotiations, management of agricultural tenancies and agri-environment schemes, woodland management, access rights and boundary disputes, work with restrictive covenants and occasional acquisitions and disposals. Whilst working with our structured governance framework, we need you to be an effective and convincing champion of best practice. You will be actively promoting the Development Team frameworks through social media and other channels. You will be preparing material and attend events to promote ICN as and when required. You will be working with the DPM and Social Value Specialist to ensure social value outcomes are achieved through the frameworks. You will produce reports on the usage of the frameworks and monitor performance of suppliers in order to improve performance and identify any issues. What you'll need: A Level qualifications or equivalent desirable but not essential. You will have experience of working in procurement and an understanding of frameworks. You will have confidence and experience of working with a wide range of customers and stakeholders. You will have the ability to manage your time effectively and work on a number of tasks at the same time.
