Swift placements are working with a local authority who are seeking a finance manager within the Childrens Services department. The Finance Manager will contribute to the provision of a comprehensive, professional, financial support service to customers. The Finance Manager will play a critical role in overseeing financial operations, budgeting, and financial reporting specifically for Children Services department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, with a focus on public sector financial management. The package: Monday to Friday Hours: 8:15am- 5:15pm Start date/ Finish date: June 2024- December 2024 6 months FTC Hybrid working arrangements offered. Rate of pay: £400-£500 per day depending on experience. Location: Huddersfield Key Responsibilities: Develop and manage budgets for Children Services programs and initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and funding requirements. Monitor and analyse financial performance against budgetary targets, providing regular reports and recommendations to senior management. Work closely with Children Services managers and staff to provide financial guidance and support for project planning and implementation. Oversee financial transactions and ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and policies. Manage grant funding applications and reporting processes, including monitoring expenditure and meeting reporting requirements. Conduct financial forecasting and planning to support strategic decision-making within Children Services. Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with audit recommendations. Implement and maintain robust financial controls and procedures within Children Services. Provide leadership and supervision to finance staff within the Children Services finance team. Support the development and implementation of financial systems and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. You will be responsible on the performance of managing your team and ensure they deliver to customers. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CCAB) preferred. Proven experience in financial management, preferably within a public sector or local government environment. Strong understanding of budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting principles. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data. Advanced proficiency in financial software and systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar). Knowledge of government funding mechanisms and grant management processes. Ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders. Strong leadership and management skills with a focus on team development and collaboration. Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and compliance.
