New Job Financial Reporting Accountant 6 month initially c£400 per day (inside IR35) Manchester Position: Financial Reporting Accountant Type: 6-Month Contract (Inside IR35) Location: Manchester Rate: circa £400 per day Overview: We are seeking a Financial Reporting Accountant to join one of our key clients for an initial period of 6 months. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of Annual and Interim reports to a FTSE standard, supported by a highly skilled team of qualified chartered accountants. Key Responsibilities: Statutory Accounting: Complete Annual and Interim reports in glossy format, adhering to the Wates principles of the CG code. Group Reporting: Ensure statutory compliance across the group's 49 statutory entities. Manage a Small Team: Lead a small team of accountants, providing guidance and support to ensure high standards of technical accounting. Subsidiary Accounts: Oversee the preparation and consolidation of subsidiary accounts. Asset Accounting and Lease Accounting: Ensure accurate accounting for assets and leases in compliance with IFRS. IFRS Compliance: Provide complete, accurate, and timely IFRS guidance, maintaining a strong knowledge base to evaluate potential impacts on group accounts and identifying appropriate accounting treatments. Drive adherence to standards and technical accounting practices across the group. Act as the key liaison between the audit and all finance members to ensure a clean audit opinion. Prepare IFRS to management account bridges for use by Divisional FDs, MDs, and senior finance leaders. Offer ongoing accounting support to divisional finance teams/FP&A/commercial teams, ensuring accounting implications are factored into commercial decisions. Independently review and challenge Balance Sheet reporting for the Group periodically. Maintain an ongoing issues log to resolve non-routine technical accounting issues internally and with group auditors. Ensure relevant finance policies and procedures are in place across all areas of external reporting. Develop training and development programs across MAG finance and finance training for the broader business. Continuously review and improve finance processes and procedures to enhance efficiency. Implement internal and external audit recommendations within agreed timescales. Support other finance projects linked to the company's ambitious UK and international growth strategy, including deep dives into problem areas and enacting business change collaboratively. Knowledge, Experience, and Skills: Professional accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA) with a minimum of 3 years PQE. Experience in PLC Annual and Interim reports with an understanding of governance requirements. Strong background in designing, implementing, and reviewing financial processes, procedures, and controls in large businesses. Ability to prioritize efficiently, manage workload, and proactively seek process improvements with a focus on optimization and delivery. Strong IT skills, including Excel, and the ability to learn new IT systems and processes. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with proven experience in influencing senior stakeholders and summarizing complex information into concise and value-adding insights. SAP knowledge and experience (preferred). Proactive, energetic, with a desire to develop and improve.
