We are seeking an experienced and qualified Management Accountant to join our team on a permanent basis. This pivotal role supports the Finance Manager by providing valuable financial insights to aid decision-making, managing financial and procurement operations, and ensuring best value for staff and students. Day to Day requirements of the role: Provide technical and practical assistance to the Finance Manager, maintaining a high-quality finance service. Ensure the integrity of financial data and supervise the finance team, including deputising for the Finance Manager. Execute period and year-end procedures, including accruals and prepayments. Prepare draft management accounts and year-end schedules, liaising with auditors during the annual audit. Manage the General Ledger, Cashbook, and Fixed Asset Register. Supervise the Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, and Petty Cash System. Prepare accurate payroll forecasts, manage payroll coding, and collaborate with the HR team. Lead in the budget setting process for non-pay costs and assist in the preparation of Financial Forecasts. Review contracts for compliance and best practice, manage the procurement process, and liaise with software providers for system maintenance. Support and guide budget holders and perform other relevant tasks. Required Skills & Qualifications: Fully qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent. Experience in management accounting and managing a finance team is desirable. Proficiency in financial management software and nominal ledger processing. Skilled in preparing management accounts, budget setting, and monitoring. Experience with fixed assets, financial year-end processes, and managing audit processes. Excellent communication skills, specifically in conveying financial information to non-finance staff. High standard of Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel. Ability to understand and analyse complex financial data and maintain positive working relationships. Knowledge of accounting concepts and financial legislation. Our client is a highly acquisitive, rapidly growing PE backed consultancy. Due to multiple acquisitions, they are looking to hire a Finance Manager on a contract, likely temp to perm basis. The role will be hands on and responsible for all month end duties, particularly management accounts for the organizations largest entity. the role would suit someone keen to have an impact on processes and procedures, driving efficiency and wanting a fluid/high change environment. Responsibilities: Producing the monthly management accounts Reporting to the Financial Controller Produce and oversee a range of reporting including monthly management reporting and cash flow forecasting, along with ensuring all balance sheets are reconciled monthly Supporting FC with the year end audit and any other external reviews. Preparing the statutory accounts for the largest group entity. Preparing periodic and ad-hoc reports both from the finance system and on Excel. These will support business requirements and finance checks to ensure data is up to date and accurate. This is expected to evolve into more focused analysis to ensure team spends and specific cost areas are well controlled and in line with budget. Direct line management of a management accountant and an assistant accountant to ensure all transactions are correctly processed. Supporting them to gain additional experience and career development. The role is outward facing to the wider business, interacting across all functions. Initially the role will be offered on a 3-4 month temporary baes (day rate inside IR35) but with the expectation it will evolve into a permanent role during that time
