We have an exciting opportunity for a senior Support Worker to join our friendly and experienced specialist brain injury and neurological care service in Newmains, Wishaw. We provide individualised assessment and intensive rehabilitation to help people recover from a brain injury. At all times we work to achieve the best possible outcomes in terms of independence and quality of life. Murdostoun Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre provides specialist care for up to 46 residents at any one time. We have a minibus for appointments and some fun outings and a state-of-the-art therapy pool, which allows our residents to focus on re-gaining cognitive abilities that may have been lost. A specially designed therapy kitchen allows users to learn new skills that will serve them long after they have left our care. We also have a gymnasium where all residents are encouraged to keep themselves active and socialise with others. We are extremely proud to be accredited as an approved provider of specialist Brain Injury Care by the Headway Brain Injury Association. What you'll be working: Full time hours 38.5 hours What you'll be doing: Supporting our clients with daily activities Effectively lead the shift by ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained at all times. Supporting their care plans to establish routine Ensure that all service users have up-to-date risk assessments and person centered plans in place and review and update as required with the service manager Ensure the client feels safe, and stable within their day to day care Personal Care Cover all aspects of the support worker role as and when required to work on the floors in order to meet the needs of the service. Responsible for attending and completing all mandatory training. Administrating medication (if required) Support service users with physical disabilities using trained techniques and aids e.g. hoists, wheelchairs, modified bathing equipment What you'll have: Strong organisational, time management, planning and communication skills. Flexible, professional, and positive approach to multi-site working. Level 3 NVQ or QCF Diploma in Health & Social Care or be willing to work towards. Proven reliability in terms of full attendance and timekeeping. Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual. Self-confidence and ability to manage challenging situations Driving License would be preferable Ability to address and respond to employee issues in a fair and consistent manner. At Murdostoun Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre, we offer rehabilitation, care and support to people over the age of 16 years with a brain injury or other neurological condition, helping every person we support feel safe, happy, empowered enabling them to live the best life possible. What you'll be working: We're flexible, so you'll work a total 37.5 hours per week, on a rota basis. What you'll be doing: Acting as Primary Nurse, taking overall responsibility for the nursing residents receive, through nursing assessments and care planning. Contributing towards MDTworking, risk assessment management and on-going clinical improvement Providing written nursing reports for a range of statutory and clinical review processes To supervise junior staff in carrying out their care plans. To liaise effectively with all actively involved in the care process, including carers and relatives, aspiring to provide an effective, seamless and integrated service to patients/residents. To maintain and update relevant knowledge and skills; maintain a professional portfolio and participate in further training as appropriate, in order to enhance quality of care for patients/residents and carers. To comply with the Active Care Group Health and Safety Policies and Protocols in order to contribute to safe working practices. To protect vulnerable adults/children from internal/external factors and act as a Patient Advocate. To ensure a comprehensive assessment is completed for the patients/residents/clients to ensure a comprehensive person-centered assessment is completed for their pathway and care plan. Ensure that each patient/resident/client has an individual care plan and risk assessment, which takes into account the patient (if appropriate) and their carer's views, with regular reviews. To administer medicine within the guidelines and framework of the Nursing and Midwifery Council. To ensure that infection control measures are in place and adhered to and, where applicable, that audit data is routinely collected.
