Our Design team is growing and we're looking for a Footwear Designer to join our Originals team, to work with our iconic product, to embrace the heritage as well as prepare these valuable icons for the future of Dr. Martens. Renowned for their durability, the collection includes boots, shoes and loafers which stay true to our heritage and DNA THE GIG We are looking for a talented mid-weight Footwear Designer to deliver compelling footwear designs, in-keeping with Dr Martens Core Values which address the seasonal briefs. As our Footwear Designer you will be responsible for: Compelling footwear designs that deliver on the commercial briefs that innovate the current status quo. You will be creating concepts that embody the Dr Martens DNA and move the brand forward. Creating inspiration, material, and colour presentations, for seasonal product reviews and design meetings. You will present to your peers in design as well as cross-functionally. Working with the development team to create prototypes that meet with deadlines for the brand calendar. You will liaise with the development team and supplier factories to ensure your designs are realised in alignment with your tech packs. Creating product presentations from concept to final review on all projects within your workload and will present seasonal concepts and articulate product information to the team when required. Put simply, for this role the key things we're looking for are: Strong experience in footwear design ideally for a Lifestyle brand with an impressive design portfolio to match. Strong design and illustration skills whether that be hand drawn and/or digital. Proven ability to work to a brief and translate designs into production ready designs. Good working knowledge of footwear constructions and manufacturing processes. Experience of working with factories and suppliers and able to travel when necessary. Working knowledge of current Mac OS and Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Strong communication skills and experience interacting cross functionally. Excellent time management and organisational skills to work in a fast-paced environment. Nice to-have's experience with 3D software such as Blender and/or Rhino and experience working with a PLM system. WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU? Description We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate Apparel Designer to join our in-house "Own Brand" Design team at Footasylum's Head Office in Rochdale. We are home to multiple brands across men's, women's, kid's and accessories. The successful candidate should have a minimum of 2/3 years' previous experience working within a Highstreet fashion role. This should be supported with a relevant portfolio. This role gives a great opportunity to the right candidate to work on Footasylum's "own brands" such as Zavetti Canada, KWD, Alessandro Zavetti and many more, with excellent progression opportunities. You will be supported in your journey, and we will celebrate your progression with you Responsibilities Research & contribute to the creation of seasonal collections collaboratively with Brand Manager / Buyer - including researching customer profile/ new trends/high street competitors with a focus on commerciality for brand awareness and regional awareness of brand-consumer Work with the Senior Design team to help create a design strategy for each brand/season, trend overviews, and design collections. You'll take ideas from the initial design concept and demonstrate advanced understanding of clear concise technical CAD design specifications, creating within specified time frame. Working closely with our "own brand" Buyers/ brand managers and Product developers to participate in fit sessions Full understanding of Children's safety standard guidelines and feedback to the team Working with factories in Turkey/China/Pakistan and building strong relationships and assisting on branded development and production trip (may include weekends) Travel to both UK stores and overseas on development trips for inspiration (may include evenings and weekends) Maintaining planners and PO's to ensure orders are sent and the development and production overviews are up to date Attend weekly trade meeting and feed back to the teams Monitoring and supporting the Junior Designers to deliver clear concise technical CAD design specifications, checking Tech packs before sending Self-motivated and have good time management with the ability to adapt Diversity We recognise and value the importance of diversity to help make sure we have lots of different perspectives when we are building products and services.
