General Maintenance Operative Job Type: Full-time Location: Crawley Salary: £32,000 We are looking for a dedicated Facilities Maintenance Technician to contribute to an effective and efficient premises & facilities service, focusing on both reactive and proactive general maintenance tasks. The successful candidate will actively participate in the development of the Premises & Facilities function and maintain a hands-on, proactive maintenance presence across all premises. Day to Day of the role: Supervise third-party contractors and ensure completion of work, reporting any issues to the Facilities Coordinator/Head of Workplace. Review third-party Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS). Maintain external areas/grounds of the premises, with a focus on autumn and winter months. Conduct weekly/monthly health & safety checks and monthly cleaning of grease filters in the staff restaurant. Perform monthly generator tests and provide proactive gritting support during winter. Carry out basic office maintenance, light touch fabric repairs, painting, and decorating as necessary. Manage in-house premises & facilities Service Desk tickets, ensuring regular communication and updates. Maintain a strong focus on Health & Safety and adhere to guidelines. Flexibility to work out of hours and weekends as required and participate in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation. Lead maintenance tasks in a specific area of expertise (e.g., joinery, electrical, plumbing). Required Skills & Qualifications: Previous experience within a corporate Facilities or Building Services environment. Multi-skilled in commercial maintenance with knowledge of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM). Computer literate with basic MS Office and Excel skills. Educated to GCSE level or equivalent as a minimum. Excellent prioritisation, multi-tasking, and pressure management skills. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
