About the role As an Outdoor Education Support Worker, you will contribute to raising standards of student attainment. To encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their full potential. To develop and enhance the social, emotional and behavioural development of our students. To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students within the school. Supporting pupils with complex Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs is important and rewarding work, and you will benefit from the tremendous support offered by our hugely experienced teams. Day Rate: £85-£95 a day Start Date: September 2024 Veritas Education are searching for SEN support workers to support primary and secondary aged children with complex SEN and medical needs in a specialist school. The learners attending the school have a variety of different needs, including Autism, SEN, Communication Needs, PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) and medical/mobility needs too. Across the setting, the school provides a variety of different ability classes for all children, coping and managing their needs to help them access their education to the best of their ability. Key Responsibilities: Work closely with the class teacher to support the learning and development of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Provide one-to-one or small group support, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the individual needs of students. Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere, ensuring all students feel valued and supported. Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, to create a comprehensive support network. Be confident with behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques. Assist with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, and mobility. Be a fantastic role model and encourage positive behaviour. Be comfortable and confident supporting children with complex SEN and medical needs. Communicate with the children by using PECS, sign language and Makaton. Requirements: Experience supporting adults and/or children with complex needs is essential. Personal experience supporting a family member with SEN/PMLD is also valued. Level 2 Team Teach is essential, although this training can be offered by Veritas. Safeguarding training is essential, although this training can be offered by Veritas. GCSE English and Maths. Strong knowledge of SEN is essential. A moving and handling qualification is preferred.
