Estimator/Engineer - Do you have estimating experience and a background in CNC Machining? Are you looking for a busy, stable and interesting job opportunity? This is a chance to work as part of the estimating team in this large successful aerospace precision engineering company creating and submitting quotations and tender bids on complex Military and aerospace parts. This customer facing role uses your excellent understanding of CNC machining and strong people and organisational skills to provide accurate pricing and lead time information. You will build on strong business relationships and continue to secure a wide range of profitable work for the businesses. The job involves estimation of 3,4 and 5 axis machining, fabrication and sub assembly. You will respond to RFQ's collating information and costs on materials and treatments to prepare bids and quotes and agree contracts. This will involve you working closely with various areas of the business to understand technical challenges, capacity, lead times and materials availability. You will use your knowledge of CNC Machining / precision engineering, materials and processes alongside your estimating experience to help improve the efficiency of this part of the company, being a key commercial link between customers and the company. You will have previously worked within a precision engineering environment (ideally aerospace manufacturing), ideally with experience as an estimator or cost engineer. Proficiency with excel / access MS Office programmes is essential. Duties: Ensure project quotations and technical submissions are on time and specifications accurate Develop and maintain improved communications within the operations team. Manage and process enquiries allocated, prioritising order related tasks. Manage, update, and take ownership of project folders, ensuring project history and communications are updated on CRM. Ensure that all key information at enquiry stage is obtained to offer the best suitable solution to the customer for their project/application requirements, with a focus on always providing compliant and competitive solutions. Confidently discuss information of a technical nature with customers to ensure a comprehensive and suitable design is provided to maximise our ability to secure the order. Ensure that designs produced are compliant with current legislation/regulations and industry best practice, Provide technical support to the external sales teams and facilitate project progression by attending project meetings on site or via Teams. Person Specification The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with a positive outlook. Good commercial awareness and a strong understanding of engineering, contractual principles, and methods of working. Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with an excellent attention to detail. A good level of numeracy skills. Excellent planning, organisation, and time management skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office or equivalent software. Desirable: A mechanical/ electrical/ building services engineering qualification would be desirable but not essential.
