Summary The National Trust is renowned for its food and hospitality. We run 185 cafes, tea-rooms and restaurants all over England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and we'd love you to join us. We're looking for Food and Beverage Team Members to join us at Hanbury Hall. In this role, you'd be making a real difference to the work of the National Trust, as well as helping to give people a memorable day out. Wherever possible, we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we're looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We'd give you as much notice of this as possible. The role will include weekends and Bank Holidays, however, there are no evenings or split shifts. Shift times would vary between 9am - 5pm, between 5.5 hours and 7.5 hours. You may be required to work some evenings for events such as outdoor theatre over summer. Salary: £11.50 per hour. What it's like to work here Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, you'll be based at Hanbury Hall & Gardens (Droitwich Spa, Worcestershire, WR9 7EA), a country retreat in the heart of Worcestershire. The Stables Caf and Courtyard Kitchen are both open daily, serving a range of hot meals, cakes, sandwiches, bakes and drinks.? What you'll be doing As a Team Member, your main focus will be front of house, dealing directly with people. You'll welcome and look after everyone who comes to the caf. With your love of working with people, your can-do' attitude and your desire to provide an outstanding service, you'll be making sure everyone has an enjoyable time. This is a lively business that's constantly on the go, so teamwork and adaptability are crucial. You'll be keen to understand what people want, to help them and to make recommendations. You'll always keep the standards of food and drink preparation and presentation high. Using your excellent eye for detail, you'll make sure all displays and signs are accurate and looking good. At times, you may need to help the kitchen team with preparing food. We'll give you an induction that fits the job, and training in allergens and food safety, plus any mentoring needed to help you in your role. Summary Come and join us on a National Trust apprenticeship where we will support and develop you to play an integral part in our work to protect historic sites, tackle climate change, and help people and nature thrive. You do not need experience for this role, just plenty of enthusiasm and a desire to learn. As one of our Horticulture Apprentices, you will be part of our horticulture teams, helping to look after our 224 Historic gardens, playing a vital role in delivering our conservation and climate change strategies, helping to undertake the regular tasks and horticultural maintenance, conservation, and care of the gardens to safeguard them for the future. This role can lead to an Assistant Gardener or Gardener role and potentially move to a Level 3 Horticulture Supervisor apprenticeship after additional experience gained in role. What it's like to work here Our gardens are heritage sites, and homes to the most extensive plant collection in Europe, and our gardeners are responsible for the conservation and development of plant collections and the gardens to increasing numbers of members and visitors. Our gardens are much loved and visited from far and wide by many and you will be part of the team of professionals caring for all aspects of the heritage gardens in the portfolio. Your training will be delivered via a combination of mandatory 5-day college blocks and online learning, with all college expenses and travel paid. There will also be opportunities to travel to other National Trust locations with some overnight stays to expand your learning and experience. You will also be able to join other training events and learn from industry colleagues internally and externally. The formal gardens at Hanbury Hall have been painstakingly restored to the early 18th century design of George London who had been a gardener for Queen Anne and was influenced by Versailles. High standards of presentation are maintained with precise hedge cutting and the use of historic planting. All our flower and vegetable plants are propagated from seed, using peat free and organic practices. We grow a wide range of produce in the Walled Garden, and the Orchards contain 53 varieties of apple and pear trees. Our working Orangery houses a significant citrus collection. Click here for more information about this location What you'll be doing Working alongside your mentor on tasks specific to your apprenticeship, you will develop the skills & knowledge relevant to this apprenticeship standard. (Horticulture or landscape construction operative level 2). You will attend, and prepare for, regular review meetings with your training provider, and be accountable for your own progression. You will be required to complete mandatory e-learning, courses and training provided. Who we're looking for In addition to the qualities listed in the role profile, we would love to hear from you if you meet the following eligibility criteria by the start date of the role: A minimum of 2 GCSE's which must include English and maths at grade E/2, functional skills level 1 or equivalent (If you hold an EHCP, entry level 3 in English and maths is acceptable). Aged 16 or over and have completed year 11 Not in full time education Living in England & have the right to work in the UK Able to travel to work location If you have a qualification in the same or a related subject to this apprenticeship or have substantial relevant work experience this may exclude you from Government funding this will be verified if your application progresses.
