Mechanical Maintenance Technician Newton Aycliffe Permanent £35,900 £6300 Shift Allowance To provide technically competent hands-on maintenance support and troubleshooting to the Compounds manufacturing plant equipment. To deliver improvements to Engineering and Maintenance work execution, planning and plant operations / reliability as defined by the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Co-ordinator. The job holder must ensure that company standards are met during the execution of all engineering work. Be familiar with and follow maintenance best practices. Accountability 1: Safety Safe delivery of the weekly maintenance schedule Report all near misses and safety incidents, making safe immediately where necessary Work within own competence and ability. Ensure safe systems of work are always adhered to (Risk Assessments, Method statements, Permit to Work, LOTO, tool checks). Follow the Company Life Saving Rules, behavioural and process safety principles. Identify plant modifications when required and ensure correct management of change processes are followed. Accountability 2: Execute Maintenance Work Fulfil day to day requirements of hands-on maintenance of plant equipment within the mechanical discipline. Seek to expand knowledge and develop your trade skills beyond area of core competence. Respond to break downs, execute preventative maintenance routines and support planned equipment outages to deliver efficient, right-first-time maintenance. Ensure production / reliability priorities are addressed with urgency. Demonstrate positive attitude towards changing priorities and show willingness to support business needs. Accountability 3: Work Management and Specification Deliver maintenance work according the schedule and feedback on progress via the maintenance management system. Ensure all plant defects are correctly identified and work orders are prioritised, planned/specified and completed safely, on time and to the required standard. Ensure all plant defects are raised in SAP - with appropriate detail and proposed solutions included Provide timely and accurate feedback on the status of work, particularly at the daily maintenance meeting. Daily execution of key maintenance activities according to the maintenance plan. Scope jobs in advance to ensure correct materials and spares are available prior to undertaking the task. Contribute technical content to work specification to ensure repairs are done right first time. Contribute experience and knowledge to RCA's for all major equipment failures. Accountability 4: Technical Problem Solving Investigate, report and recommend solutions for specific plant problems to deliver improved safety, reliability, availability, quality, and process efficiency and implement Use technical / plant knowledge to develop others within the maintenance team and work together to make timely repairs to plant equipment. Accountability 5: Line Outages and Preventative Maintenance Assist with planning and preparation of work scopes for equipment down time on production line outages. Help establish / improve PM routines to drive reliability improvements. Learn from breakdowns and incorporate learning into PM programme. Take personal accountability for monthly PM compliance. Level of education & Experience in general Preferred minimum time served apprenticeship and HNC in a mechanical discipline. Proven experience in technical problem solving and work execution in a manufacturing environment. Broad understanding of maintenance, planning, engineering, and supporting a manufacturing facility.
