Critical to the implementation of iStream Superlight are integral modules and systems engineered by Gordon Murray Electronics which deliver a range of electrical functionalities - these technologies also being scaleable to serve the delivery demands of any specific platform configuration. With multiple sites in Shalford and Warwick, the Gordon Murray Technologies continues to grow with multiple vehicle programmes currently in development. As a result, we currently have exciting opportunities for a CAE Engineer - Durability to join our Vehicle Attributes Team in Warwick. Responsibilities: Your primary responsibility will be to use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to help guide the design and achieve component and assembly targets for mass, stiffness and durability. You will be expected to perform linear and non-linear analyses. The role will include build of full vehicle FE models and subsystems, loadcase derivation, analysis set-up and execution, post-processing of results to generate design recommendations. You will be expected to liaise with the design, development, project management, commercial, prototype and production manufacturing teams, technical partners and suppliers to ensure the designs meet the requirements for timing, performance, manufacturability and cost. Additionally, you will support R&D activities and the development of tools and techniques to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the analysis department. Experience and Qualifications: It is anticipated that you will be an engineer with experience experience at least 2 years experience in the automotive industry. You should have an engineering degree and experience working within a team environment. You will be expected to have a solid understanding of fundamental Durability theory and how to apply this to achieve programme goals. A good working knowledge of whole vehicle design and vehicle sub-systems is essential. The following attributes are essential: Demonstrable experience using FEA techniques to predict the stiffness, strength and fatigue of structures Hand calculations to support the FE analysis Experience of analysing test data and correlation to CAE results Competent in using Optistruct, Abaqus, nCode, Hypermesh, ANSA or equivalent software Clear and effective communication skills with internal and external clients Excellent problem solver, capable of thinking "outside the box" Quick learner with good time management skills Ability to achieve cost, weight and technical targets within specified timescales The following attributes are desirable: Experience of automotive NVH test and development work, ability to interpret test data and provide guidance for design teams. Experience of bush analysis. Responsibilities: Engineering, development, integration and validation of various electrical modules (ECUs, Sensors and Actuators etc.) into the overall vehicle electrical architecture in collaboration with Functional Departments, technical partners and Tier 1 suppliers. The role will require to be working in some of the key areas as owners for electrical modules Central Compute Unit and Zonal Controllers within top of the range zonal architecture Body Electrical Components e.g. Door Modules, Various actuators & sensors, Electronic Toll Collection etc. Autonomous Drive / ADAS components e.g. LiDAR, RADAR, Camera Modules, Ultrasonic Sensors etc. Passive Safety Components e.g. Airbag Control Module, Sensors etc. Body Security Components e.g. Body / Zonal Controller, Keys, Alcolock etc. Antenna System Components e.g. Smart Antenna, Wi-Fi, Antenna, RF Module Power Supplies e.g. 12V Li-Ion Battery, USBs, Wireless Charging, 230V Power sockets etc. Development and maintenance of requirements specifications, timing plans, systems calibration and validation requirements throughout the project lifecycle. Fault identification and resolution including management of issues to closure following a robust 8D process. Acting as an authority for concessions or escalate as required. Supplier management and co-ordination including support for Procurement, Logistics and Quality throughout the project lifecycle. Provision of support and training to Manufacturing and Service departments. Responsible for Commodity attributes such as Quality, Costs, Timing, Weight Responsible to deliver commodities within budget through regular supplier liaison and tracking DVP status, meeting all legislative requirements. Manage third party supplier across various prototype / development builds Leadership/participation in system review, verification & validation activities. Responsible for DFMEA, DVP&R (Electrical & Mechanical), PV sign-off, Engineering Sign-off Support Sub-system Design Reviews, DFMEA and Supplier FMEAs Tier 1 supplier management and co-ordination including support for Procurement, Logistics and Quality throughout the project lifecycle. Support various prototype and development builds including labcar / test rig build where required Work closely with other departments such as Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Programs, Logistics, Service and workshops Experience and Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of experience within the respective area applying for Understanding Automotive New Product Development Process, Milestones and deliverables for each phases Demonstrable experience of automotive electrical components' design, development and manufacture Good experience and knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, ECUs and other electrically wired components Wide-ranging in-depth expert understanding of electrical systems, software features/functions, electrical architectures and systems design/integration. Working knowledge of CAN, FlexRay, automotive ethernet, LIN networks and vehicle diagnostics. Working knowledge of relevant homologation standards, ISO26262 and EuroNCAP Understanding of Functional Safety and Cyber Security requirements for a global market vehicle Experience in design for good electrical and EMC performance. Established contacts withinthe automotive eco-system including Tier 1 and component suppliers. Knowledge of hybrid and full-electric electrical vehicle architectures and wiring systems would be advantageous. Experience of visualisation using CATIA V5 or V6 or lightweight file viewers would be useful. Excellent understanding of 2D drawings, electrical circuits Experience in creating Engineering Change Requests and managing the implementation of the changes through design release internally and externally. Experience of system/component delivery within an APQP, six sigma or similar framework (FMEA, quality planning, PPAP etc).
