The Education Network are exclusively working with a school who are looking for a compassionate, resilient Learning Support Assistant to support pupils across several alternative provisions in and around Leeds. You will support pupils with challenging behaviour, helping them to achieve their full potential within this role, as well as working closely with teachers, the SENCo. About You Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEN and/or challenging behaviour is essential. Qualifications: A relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning) is desirable but not essential. Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Knowledge: Understanding of various behaviour management techniques and an awareness of SEN practices. Attitude: A positive, empathetic approach to working with children and a commitment to their development and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one and group support: Assist pupils with challenging behaviour in managing their emotions and behaviour, ensuring they are engaged in their learning. Collaborate with staff and parents: Maintain open and effective communication with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure consistent support for each pupil. Implement behaviour management strategies: Work with the SENCo and teaching staff to develop and implement effective behaviour management plans. Assist with personal care needs: Where necessary, provide personal care support to pupils, always maintaining their dignity and comfort. Support academic progress: Help pupils understand and engage with the curriculum, providing tailored support where necessary. Foster a safe learning environment: Ensure the classroom remains a safe and supportive space for all pupils.
