Exciting opportunity for a Power Operator: Europe Power Portfolio to join this global Energy company. This is an exciting time to be joining this world-leading company as they transform themselves from a traditional Oil & Gas company into a leading name within the Renewables sector. This includes the creation of an already highly successful new Power Trading desk within the Energy Trading team as well as new ventures into various innovative solutions around the supply of Renewables including wind farms, electric vehicle charging, solar panel heating and battery storage. The Europe Power portfolio encompass' flexible renewable generation, utilities, aggregators, power generators, large industrial and commercial energy users, and trading houses throughout numerous European countries (UK, Netherlands, Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain and Italy). The Power Operator will be part of a team of 5 Power Operators, 2 Power Specialists and 2 Senior Operators, reporting to the Power Operations Team Lead. This team is responsible for the commercial operations and balancing of the Europe Power portfolio. More specific responsibilities include: 1. Maintain a thorough understanding of the Energy Europe's Commercial business needs across the geographical portfolio, and the means by which Commercial Power Operations captures value in commercial markets. 2. Daily scheduling of European Power Grids and nominations 3. Executing trades bilaterally and on Europe's power Exchange 4. Management of day ahead and intra-day cross-border capacities 5. Nominating/dispatching generating assets 6. Contact counterparties daily to check power positions and trades and ensure efficient matching 7. Provide input to IT tool enhancements/requirements 8. Maintain a thorough understanding of Energy Europe's purchase and supply contracts and the obligations therein ensuring Energy Europe's compliance. 9. Maintain a thorough understanding of the various Power markets and regulatory regimes across Europe, where Energy Europe operate. 10. Lead the Commercial Wholesale Operations team through the digitalisation journey, removing unnecessary process's and looking to automate where possible. 11. Develop cross team capabilities in Gas, Power and renewables, and leverage synergies to the gain of all areas of the wider Commercial Operations team. Special Challenges: This is an evolving role as part of the expansion of power business, as such the processes and procedures change rapidly which requires team members to keep appraised on areas that affect their operational activities. Due to the criticality of the tasks undertaken by the Power Operator this role involves working outside of normal working hours on a rota basis - this includes working 1 weekend in 5/6. As a result, the successful candidate must be comfortable with being a sole worker during these times. What we need from you We are keen to hear from individuals with prior experience/knowledge in Power Operations. You'll also bring in your strong commercial judgement, excellent analytical skills to be able to make accurate decisions and ability to handle a stressful environment. We also hope you possess the following skills and/or experience: 1. Prior experience working in a trading environment and managing risk 2. Flexible approach to working hours to accommodate a range of European markets 3. Excellent understanding of European Power Operations and Power Assets 4. Experienced user of IT systems and knowledgeable on IT landscapes including Power operations platforms 5. Self-motivated, with an aptitude for accurate problem solving in a very time critical environment 6. Very strong attention to detail and delivery focused 7. Proficient English required and at least one further European language desirable (Italian, Spanish or German preferred) 8. Ability to work without supervision 9.
