Business Development Manager - Hazardous Waste Location: Sheffield and our regional operational locations Competitive salary and excellent OTE potential A quick look at the role. The Business Development Manager in our Hazardous Waste division is key in supporting the hazardous waste transfer station in winning new business in and around the proximity of our infrastructure. As a high quality salesperson you will work closely with the local depot and regional management team and Head of Sales, to source and implement high quality hazardous waste business wins, driving a significant impact on local depot revenues and profitability. The role is 100% new business with no account management required and it is a regional position covering several local hazardous waste depots so there will be a level of requirements for frequent travel and overnight stays. The business area the role supports. The Specialist Services division focuses upon delivering waste management solutions to businesses in the manufacturing and distribution channels and the ideal candidate will have experience and understanding of these business sectors. The Specialist Services offer requires the Business Development Manager to propose strategic solutions that encompass continuous improvement, cost saving, best practice and environmental sustainability - as such, the role suits a solutions oriented, agile commercial lead who is focused on creating value for clients. A chance of working in a collaborative manner with other business unit and group sales functions, developing the strategic growth plans for specialist services, via the introduction of all services offered by IRM and our Hazardous Waste businesses. Representing the business unit positively to all stakeholders, presenting a best in class perception for Specialist Services Supporting and where appropriate responding to tenders and requests for information in a timely manner while effectively interacting with other departments including the account management and internal teams when handing over new customers ensuring full and correct communications in all aspects of the sale. Here's what we require: Sales and development experience, in a comparable field-based business development role. Experience in achieving clearly defined key performance indicators. Waste industry knowledge including relevant laws would be advantageous. Experience of Bid writing would be advantageous along with the ability to respond to tendering documentation. Numerical mindset with the skill to understand numerical data. Computer literate with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Software such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The ability to digest and analyse date at pace. Agile, solutions focused development skillset. Experience of building and maintaining customer relationships. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Business Development Manager, Area Sales Manager- Fasteners to OEMs Managing existing clients and contracts (60%)- there is significant existing business on the area which will involve developing and strengthening relationships and contacts with a view to up selling and cross / range selling into them. Also negotiating price increases with customers, keeping on top of and re-signing them after their contract expires. Generating new business from new clients (40%) which will involve dealing at senior buyer / procurement and technical (production and engineering) personnel level in potential customers, you will be targeting companies ideally with potential annual spends of £50k to £1/2m, ideally to supply them with a full service / KanBan supply chain solution. New business will come from the company's database and via your own market research and own lead generation and other on and off line marketing / website / exhibition activity; also leveraging existing success into other similar potential markets and customers, "grouping" customers from certain markets. A key part of the sell is to open clients up and getting them talking about how you can help them with their operational efficiency and profitability. Looking for several new, good quality, potentially sizeable customers a year often involving long lead times. PERSON SPECIFICATION: Business Development Manager, Area Sales Manager - Fasteners to OEMs To be considered for this potentially rewarding Business Development Manager, financially and in terms of career progression you will have; A proven track record of sales success selling some sort of technical component to OEMs, much preferably fasteners or high volume / C-class components, or related products with a mechanical engineering basis. A good knowledge of fasteners and related KANBAN, VMI, Just in Time supply services and solutions. Drive and determination to get in front of, and talk credibly to, senior purchasing, buying and engineering / technical personnel at customers. The ability to spot and / or and experience spotting opportunities with existing customers for cross and range up selling.
