Draughtsperson £30,000 - £35,000 Per Annum Depending on Experience Our client is a highly successful engineering company who have been established in the local area for over 40 years. They are looking to recruit a Draughtsperson to join their successful team. This is a temporary to permanent position but could also be permanent for the right candidate. Reporting to the Technical Director, this is an excellent opportunity for the Draughtsperson to utilise their existing skill set and to also develop and grow within the role. No formal qualifications are required; however, you will be competent and have experience in using and understanding SolidWorks and other similar packages. The company is happy to offer on the job training, to enable you to develop your skills and progress within the company. This is an office-based role and ideally you will come from an engineering/manufacturing background. Purpose of the job: From hand sketches or briefs, the Draughtsperson will create 3 dimensional models and prepare detailed technical drawings suitable for manufacture, using CAD software and computer visuals as required. Provide project management support, if required, to achieve customer requirements. Key Job Responsibilities: To design and shape products for a variety of applications. To produce design specifications and technical drawings including parts lists. Design, model, and produce prototypes of new products, or make improvements to existing products. Interact with customers and perform in a professional manner and present a professional image. Recommend modifications following prototype test results. Look to improve or modify cost effective designs to current specifications. Ensure that all administration (internal/external) is complete in full and on time. Maximise efficiency via good time management. Required Knowledge: A full understanding of Solid Works and similar packages. Understanding of materials and production processes. Maintain up to date knowledge of appropriate systems and procedures. Skills and Competencies: Design skills and ability to use appropriate software. Good communication skills. Ability to build good internal relationships. Open to new ideas and alternative points of view. Computer literacy. Organisational and time management skills. Problem-solving skills. A creative approach for generating new ideas. An understanding of manufacturing processes Knowledge of materials and properties. Able to work independently with minimal supervision. No qualifications are required, just some experience and competency in Solid Works. They are very keen to provide on-the-job training which will progress your career within the business. This is an office based only position as they work in a collaborative way as face-to-face communication works better for them. It would be preferable if you come from an Engineering background, enabling you to better understand that environment. This is not a super creative role where the focus is on aesthetics but more about functionality and specification.
