Position Overview: Prototype Build Technician As a Prototype Build Technician with an Electric Vehicle (EV) bias, you will play a pivotal role in the whole vehicle build process. Your responsibilities will include component assembly, sub-assembly, and the creation of entire vehicles from the ground up within a bay-build environment. Using your Mechanical, Electrical, and Trim skills, you'll contribute to the development of future automotive models. Key Responsibilities as a Prototype Build Technician: Whole vehicle preparation, assembly, and build, with a primary focus on Mechanical build, Trim and Final Assembly. Mechanical and Electrical assembly tasks, including building components and sub-assemblies from scratch. Creating and assembling entire vehicles within a bay-build discipline, covering Mechanical, Electrical, and Trim aspects. Fitting part/full interior Trim packages with precision and attention to detail. Utilising your extensive knowledge of EVs and Hybrid vehicles to contribute to the prototype process. Reading and interpreting engineer drawings to ensure accurate assembly. Diagnosing and supporting the logging of build issues, contributing to engineering improvements. Working Hours: Day Shift: Monday Thursday: 8.00am 16.45pm, Friday 8.00am 2.30pm (39 hours per week) Contract type: Inside IR35 Initial 6-month contract. Responsibilities of the Carbon Panel Prepper / Polisher: Surface Evaluation and Material Preparation: Clean and prepare surfaces for prepping procedures, ensuring all necessary materials and tools are available. Inspect carbon fibre panels for defects or imperfections. Assess the paintwork's condition, identifying areas with oxidation, fading, or damage. Inspect for visible scratches, swirl marks, or imperfections requiring special attention. Polishing and Surface Prepping: Sand, buff panels to remove old paint, imperfections, or contaminants. Fill gaps, scratches, or dents with appropriate filler material. Apply primer coats for adhesion and durability, ensuring proper drying and curing times. Mask off areas not requiring treatment, tape edges and seams for clean lines. Choose suitable polishing compounds and pads based on paint condition and desired correction level. Detailing, Preservation, and Inspection: Perform detailed cleaning and restoration on various vehicle parts. Use specialised techniques and products. Conduct thorough inspections to identify areas needing attention or restoration. Documentation, Safety Compliance, and Continuous Improvement: Maintain detailed records of work performed and any issues encountered. Ensure compliance with safety regulations when handling hazardous materials. Participate in training programs to enhance skills and stay updated on industry trends. Team Collaboration and Equipment Maintenance: Collaborate with team members to coordinate workflow and ensure project deadlines are met. Communicate any issues or concerns regarding the prepping process. Clean and maintain prepping tools and equipment for optimal performance. Requirements of the Carbon Panel Prepper / Polisher: Experience: Proven experience in Preparation of panels / parts on vehicles. Previous experience in Prepping / Polishing Carbon Fibre Skills: Proficient in using various preparation tools and products suitable Adaptability: Ability to adapt techniques based on the unique requirements of each heritage vehicle. Product Designer - Hybrid Working - Outside IR35 Our client in the Autmotive sector are currently looking to hire a Product Designer with experience in Design Systems to join the team on a hybrid working contract basis. This role would be Outside IR35. Details: Design, develop and implement core design tools and frameworks including the Design System, UI kits, data visualisation library, experience principles, and feed into IA. Collaborate with front end developers to build a code library and ensure systems, tools and frameworks work for both teams.
