We are looking for an experienced, outstanding School Cook to join our team at our Brand New School, Ryecroft School, Walsall! Job duties To be responsible for the planning and preparation of high-quality food and catering service to the school. To manage and supervise all kitchen staff. Key Task Areas and Responsibilities To plan menus for the school with reference to the dietary needs of our young people To undertake the monitoring of stocks by date rotation, portion control and quality and in accordance with the budgetary controls set To set up and clean down the kitchen areas before and after day to day use To ensure that necessary preparation is undertaken for the day/weekly demand/needs of the School To be observant of the need to minimise waste To provide suitable food to staff/pupils with special dietary requirements About the school Our New Options School - Ryecroft School will have capacity for 60 pupils and is due to open in September 2024. Our New Options School will cater for pupils with Autism and complex needs. The school is located in Walsall. Walsall is a market town in the West Midlands County. It is located 9 miles north-west of Birmingham, 7 miles east of Wolverhampton and 9 miles from Lichfield. For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. About the role To manage and maintain the school premises ensuring they are clean, secure, safe and well maintained at all times. Responsible for a wide range of duties and responsibilities connected with the fabric and grounds of the school. Main Duties: Locking and unlocking the buildings as required Setting up facilities such as chairs, tables, garden area etc Dealing efficiently with pre-planned maintenance, day to day establishment requirements and being reactive to problems that may arise. Undertaking repairs to fixtures and fittings Ensuring all plant equipment is maintained to the required standards. Grounds maintenance Assisting with the organisation of the school refurbishments Porterage around the school site Monitoring the premises for any hazards, carrying out repairs or reporting problems where necessary.
