Southend City Council are looking to appoint a full-time Personal Advisor within a 1-year fixed term capacity.
Your new role
Within this position, you will be required to provide in depth 1-1 intensive support to the most vulnerable young people, addressing barriers to ETE and enabling them to reach their full potential.
To provide good quality advice, information and assistance through face to face interviews, home visits, by telephone and LBTH JD and PS Template May 2021 by correspondence within a casework based customer care framework, ensuring all deadlines are met and appropriate referrals are made to other agencies to properly progress the case.
To advise on all matters relating to landlord and tenant disputes and to negotiate with landlords to prevent homelessness and provide practical assistance to help customers remain in their accommodation or move to alternative accommodation thereby preventing homelessness.
To conduct housing advice interviews with local private sector residents focussing on preventing homelessness and giving good quality advice on the potential avenues to resolve problems and on housing choices available so that customers can make informed decisions about their options.
To support the team manager in having operational management responsibility for staff covering the S Council area, subject to the Strategic manager's guidance for statutory building regulation and associated advisory services for the city council and partner authorities including the exercise of delegated powers.
To deputise for the team manager as and when required.
To support the directorate team to deliver high quality professional Building Control service for the Council and partner authorities.
To manage the delivery of the Council's responsibilities for the determination of building regulation applications and inspection of building work.
To be the lead surveyor in a team of 7.
