Job specification Position: Controls Engineer Locations: Deeside / Liverpool Hours: 40-50 hours this will include weekends Salary: £70,000p/a plus overtime depending on experience. Due to significant growth, we are recruiting several Controls Engineers, the role will be working in the automotive industry and the successful candidate must have experience within this type of automation, primarily conveyor system controls. Qualifications Degree/ONC/HNC or higher in Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Schneider, Siemens, or equivalent). Experience with HMI/SCADA software (Wonderware, FactoryTalk View, or equivalent). Demonstrated expertise in control system design, development, and maintenance. Excellent knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus or equivalent). Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical, Eplan or other electrical design software. We are supporting a specialist manufacturing business in their search for a Controls & Instrumentation Engineer to join the Engineering team. You will be joining a team of seven working on multiple projects. The Controls Engineering team undertake a wide variety of tasks in a highly regulated sector, working to the highest industry standards. Working in multi-disciiplinary project teams, you will design, develop, install and maintain industrial equipment to ensure efficient manufacturing processes. The bulk of systems programming is in Siemens S7 and Rockwell Automation. Job Description: As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing control software for various programmable control systems, including Siemens S7 Classic and/or TIA, and Rockwell Studio 5000. You will join the dynamic controls department within a well-established and respected control system engineering company based in the Midlands. There will be periods on-site during the commission phase of projects. Responsibilities: Design and develop control software for Siemens S7 Classic and/or TIA and Rockwell Studio 5000-based programmable control systems. Write PLC software from first principles, with at least 5 years of experience in this area. Write safety software and validate it against a safety matrix. Configure and set up VFD drives. Utilise STL and/or IL coding for control system development. Work with ProfiNet systems or similar communication protocols. Read and interpret electrical drawings. Conduct basic electrical fault finding using a multimeter. Create documentation such as FDS (Functional Design Specification), O&M (Operation and Maintenance) manuals, etc. Utilise Microsoft Office tools effectively for documentation and communication purposes. Demonstrate a good understanding of the English language, both spoken and written, as most customers are based in the UK. Occasionally work weekends and stay overnight away from home as required. Minimum Requirements: 5 years of experience writing PLC software from first principles, preferably in Siemens S7 Classic and/or TIA. Experience with Rockwell Studio 5000 is also acceptable. Experience in writing safety software and validating it against a safety matrix. Proficiency in VFD drive configuration and setup. Strong knowledge of STL and/or IL coding.
